Look Who's Endorsed by Gabby Giffords...

Quote:Americans for Responsible Solutions is the anti-gun group led by former Congresswoman Gabby Giffords and her husband, former astronaut Mark Kelly. In a surprise move (for me anyway), ARS has thrown its support behind Pennsylvania Republican congressional candidate Rep. Mike Fitzpatrick. The “Not Afraid to Lead” ad above touts Fitzpatrick’s legislative efforts to keep guns “out of the hands of the dangerously mentally ill, stalkers and domestic abusers.”

I guess any group could "endorse" any candidate they wanted to spend the money on in an effort to sway the elections toward one side.

I dunno... I kind of support not having crazies, creeps, and abusers armed.

I used to play stickball with a kid named David Hoagland. I went to school with the girl who would become his wife. After multiple abuse issues, she was granted a PFA... Which David regularly violated with no repercussions. He had his "firearms" removed... And after threatening to kill her several times, again with no repercussions, he bought a .44 black powder revolver legally and killed her and then himself right in front of the kids.

So, yeah...

Sounds to me like those evil black powder pistols need some regulation as well. Dodgy

I would think it a good idea to make purchasing any type of weapon in blatant cases such as these as damned near impossible as possible. You repeatedly threaten to kill someone, you should be in jail. You shouldn't be able to buy a black powder gun, a bow, a bat, or even a steak knife.

Conversely, if you aren't a crazy asshole you should be able to buy anything at all.

This sums me up as well. I don't care what someone has, but as soon as they start to (credibly) threaten others with it they shouldn't have it anymore.

Though, I would also say that any spouse that makes up or inflates a phony threat should be charged as if they themselves committed the crime, but that's just me.

The only thing worse than someone making a threat against another person (or following through) is someone that lies about a threat against themselves so as to punish or discredit another.

So c'mon. After reading this thread at least the part regarding the sad death Mrs. Hoagland, there are two parties directly or at least morally guilty of her death. Her husband for committing the crime and her community LAW ENFORCEMENT who didn't take the threat or her pleas for help seriously.

Actually he did not buy it legally, or was that why the word is italic?
