Looking for CCP Gun
#1
IDPA has just created a new division call Compact Carry Pistol. For those familiar with IDPA, it's going to follow the ESP rules, but in a smaller form factor.

Right now I am looking to see what I might want to purchase for this new division. I'm looking for recommendations.

Requirements:
~ 4.1" barrel max
~ 9mm (or larger, but want to stick with 9)
~ 1 3/8" wide max
~ 37 oz weight max
~ 8 round mags (minimum) (8+1)

So far on my list is:
~XDM 3.8 (full-sized grip)(an i'm already familiar with the XDM platform)
~Glock 19 (not a big fan)
~XDS 4.0
~STI VIP (oh to have that kind of money lying around)
~9mm 1911 (not sure on manufacturer as there are a few)

So... Suggestions?

p.s.: posting this on the "other" site as well. Feel free to respond to both threads

Here's two I would take over anything on your list. (no idea about the STI thingie)

Beretta PX4 Storm (full size has a 4" barrel, 17 round mag)
Walther PPQ (4" barrel, 15 round mag, super nice trigger)
Ammunition, it's the new lead bullion. Buy it cheap and stack it deep.

Thanks for the suggestion... unfortunately the PX4 Storm is just a hair too wide... I guess you could shave a millimeter or 2 off somewhere.

here's the STI VIP:

Interesting. It looks like the PX4 is over by .045".

Just out of curiosity, where do the measure the width. Is it the widest part of the frame?, slide?, grips? Does it include the controls too like a safety, decocker or slide release?

They will still use the IDPA box, but with a 1/4" piece of wood in the bottom. lid needs to close. So I guess if you have over-sized controls, then you are SOL.

Last week I shot a friend's PX4 Storm subcompact in .40. It had A LOT of muzzle jump, but that SA trigger was really amazing. It caught me off guard how much Beretta got it right. I think a full sized PX4 in 9mm would be a fun gun to shoot.

If you are keen on sticking with the XD platform for your other division(s) I would go XD here as well. I did not realize until this last year how much I was hurting myself trying to run two different platforms.

That's kind of what I was thinking as I already know about parts, triggers, etc. But I'm really interested in a 1911 style 9mm as well. Saw a Kimber at a local shop but not ready do drop that kind of money.

How about one of these? http://www.springfield-armory.com/produc...ficer-9mm/
The 9mm version is 9+1.

I just got a Range Officer Compact in .45 and am very happy with it's size. I've read that a 9mm version of the ROC was just released.

Barrel needs to be less than 4.1"
