Looks like Kane is Atty Gen.

It looks like Kane won the Attorney General spot so where do we stand? Are we in a heap of shit when she takes control? Do we have enough friends at the Capital to make sure she does no harm or do they not matter at this point?

The R's have pretty firm control at the state level.

Anything that somehow made it through the R's in the Pa legislature is sure to be vetoed by Corbett.

Legislatively we're okay. It's the reciprocity agreements we have to watch carefully once her work begins.

If she starts trashing Florida we'll have some extra allies from that State helping provide the real facts to our reps, but I'm very concerned about the damage she could do as far as reciprocity goes.

This was my first thought. I don't know much about the process. Does the AG have carte blanche in this matter or is there legislative or executive oversight?

When is the last time Pa added another state to it's reciprocity list?

Quote:§ 6109 (k) Reciprocity.--

(1) The Attorney General shall have the power and duty to enter into reciprocity agreements with other states providing for the mutual recognition of a license to carry a firearm issued by the Commonwealth and a license or permit to carry a firearm issued by the other state. To carry out this duty, the Attorney General is authorized to negotiate reciprocity agreements and grant recognition of a license or permit to carry a firearm issued by another state.

Duty. That to me says she must attempt to create agreements not get rid of them.

She has enough discretion that it is a problem on state level carry for those who Philly abuses and for any other Sheriff that follows the Philly lead, thanks to 18 Pa.C.S. § 6106(b)(15)(ii).

Now, given that Corbett added many of our current reciprocity agreements he might make some interesting moves if Kane attacks them. We really could see a Kane/Corbett showdown on the issue with him backing legislation restricting the AG's power if she abuses it heavily. With the state-level control as it is right now I expect severe backlash should she try anything.

I expect her to take actions against us, but our side can strike back if that happens.

I'm concerned though, because many otherwise pro-gun reps are still hazy on the entire 'Florida loophole' issue and it took a lot of work to push back against former Representative Lentz's efforts there. We may be in for a very tough rematch.

But does she really have to make any new agreements. This might be the real problem. She might deciede that she will not agree to anymore new reciprocity's.
