Whole lot of fail quotes in this one....

Standard Speaker: Gun collectors facing renewed challenges to hobby

Quote:Foster Township gun collector Thomas F. Braddock Jr. wants to buy a 9 mm machine gun from a dealer in Georgia as an investment.

He wanted to proceed with the deal by getting the signature of Luzerne County interim sheriff Jack Robshaw. But Robshaw didn't even consider signing the federal government form to authorize the purchase.

"He just flat out refused," said Braddock, a retired Army National Guard major and former employee with the Federal Bureau of Prisons. "I have had a security clearance for 25 years. I am certainly not a criminal."

Robshaw is concerned about civilians, who are not law enforcement officers, acquiring fully automatic weapons that could end up being used in mass shootings, noting they can fire "hundreds of rounds per minute." He said would rather lose his job than sign the form.

I agree with the interim sheriff: he should lose his job (that he was temporarily appointed to).

Contact the County Manager ... Mr. Robert Lawton at 570-825-1635 and tell him about the Interim Sheriff Mr. Jack Robshaw failing to do his job as required by law, and feel that he ( the Interim Sheriff ) is in dereliction of duty by failing to do the job that he was hired for. I just did.... and spoke with Mr. Lawton's secretary ( Jennifer )..... who said she would relay the message

Not saying it wont do any good but I just had this same conversation with Mario Scavello (our rep) about our sheriff and his illegal requests when applying for a LTCF. Mario confirmed what I had thought for a long time, there is NO ONE 'above them' that can force them to do anything, not even the attorney general (like she would do it), not even the governor.

Now it may help that he is an interim sheriff and not actually elected but I tend to doubt it.

Only solution is to vote in a different sheriff.

My understanding is that the Home Rule group decides who will be the sheriff and THEY appoint him/her..... Sucks that we dont have ANY say in the matter other than letting the group know our feelings.... but we all know how far that carries any weight dont we....
