M1 Garand and M1A with coming AWB...
#1
I know Obama is supposed to be coming after semi autos now. What do you think the odds are the M1 and civilian variants will remain legal? I've always wanted an M1A, but I've not had the ~$1,800 to blow on one. Does the age of the weapon design may give it any protection that might not be afforded the AR and its variants? I've been kind of hoping the Korean M1's would have made it back to our shores and dropped the price, but it doesn't look like that's going to be the case.

anyones guess really...if its like the original AWB, the M14 clones would be ok with modifications id bet.

If it is a full and complete ban on all semiautos, than the garand is a goner also.

bottom line is no one knows for sure, though right now it looks as if Feinswine and friends are going for a complete ban of all semiautos.

The Garand isn't considered an AWB by any known definition. It is semi auto with a bayonet lug. It has no barrel shroud, pistol grip, detachable magazine or flash hider. Plus the M1 Garands from Korea are on their way back. They finally got approval a few months back. They are taking bids for importers.

The Carbines haven't gotten approved yet because the ATF says they are too easy to convert to full auto. Never mind the fact that there are millions in the country all ready.

M1As are easy to get past an AWB. Sell it with a ten round magazine and no bayonet lug.

I find it entertaining that the Dragonov SVD is on that list but not the PSL.

Because one is 100x more deadly than the other...

How do these people get in power to make lists like these? Did they just use Rosie O'Donnell with an issue of Gun & Ammo as a focus group?

The SVD is already banned from import. The ones already in country are prohibitively expensive selling at $5k+.

The PSL isn't made anymore. They stopped making them about a year ago. Even if it was, it has no barrel shroud, no seperate pistol grip, most didn't come with bayonet lugs and they don't make magazines that hold more than 10rds.

God I hope the M1As are not included. I still need to purchase mine as well as magazines for it.

It just shows how little these idiots know about guns. The M1 Garand and 1911, combat weapons that won WWII, are safe enough, but my kids' scary black .22 is too evil for mere mortals to possess.

We should all start OC'ing 1911's. When somebody wets their pants, just tell them "don't worry it's safe - it has a 7-round clip." Smile

Whatever you do don't add a threaded barrel or it will suddenly become a military style combat assault pistol. Rolleyes

Pelosi will eventually ban the 1911 anyway, when she realizes that pistols have pistol grips too.
