Didn't want to derail Ten's review thread, so thought I'd bump my own thread with the fact that I just ordered the ZT Bone Machete. Big Grin

Can't wait! I hope it gets here in time for my November backpacking trek.

Picked up a Gerber Gator 2 at the Tractor supply today. $19.99. Unfortunately it is a Gerber made in china. Not the end of the world I know. But when I think Gerber I think made in the USA.

I like that a lot. I like that it's short and sturdy looking. There have been a few times I swung the machete at a weed stalk without seeing a rock 6" behind it and cringed at the inevitable blade damage. I think something this length would give you more control, but also be big enough to get some power behind the swing. I'll be checking them out next time I'm in the TS.

Check out "coconut machetes" for close-in work.

I have a Gerber Gator also. I like that it has the saw teeth along the top edge.

I will probably add something made in U.S.A. later on.
