Mag-jic holster
#1
I'm thinking about getting one of those mag-jic magnetic holsters.....but wouldn't such a strong magnet set off security alarms in stores? I wore a two week heart monitor and it set one off so it would concern me to wear a strong magnet to go shopping?

Never heard of these, but I have two comments.

1. Anti-theft devices don't work off of magnetism in the way you're thinking. They're not metal detectors. They emit and RF field that activates the RFID tags that are inserted into high-theft items. If you had something set them off, it was probably because the device either had a tag left over in it for some reason, or it had an RF antenna similar to the RFID tags that it's tuned to detect.

2. I wouldn't buy one of these, no way, no how. Rare Earth magnets are nice and strong, but when there's something between the magnet and the metal, they can be easily pulled apart.

Oh ok....my heart sensor was wireless to the monitor so maybe it was emitting something or other. Wouldn't have been a tag, because I didn't buy it...it was a doctor's order thing.

Well it's made to wear outside but I would wear it IWB so that it was against my body.....you don't think it would be safe? It has good reviews......

It may have good reviews, but has anyone actually tried yanking on it and see how easily it rips right off their body? IWB may make it a little more secure, but I'd be wary of it regardless.

I just thought it would be a good holster choice since I never wear belts......

Heh. Years ago when I was a fit, young man I had to wear a 2 way radio at work on occasion which required a belt for the holster. I didn't own a belt.

Irritated supervisor: "Whadd'a ya mean you don't have a belt? How you keep your pants from falling down?!!!"

Me: I buy pants that fit me.

That's my thoughts on the issue! Lol.

Plus I'm tall but have a shorter waist so with that combo I find if I let my clothes rest down on my hips they are longer and then my waist looks longer. Belts don't work well sitting on the hips.

Yeah yeah. Rolleyes

I knew I shouldn't have gone into it, LOL, but seriously, one reason I rarely carry is because I am SO having trouble finding a holster carry method I can do on a daily basis! (NO flash bang either so don't even go there.)
