Magpul...disappointment...

In my quest to find some Gen 2 or M2 20 round PMags, I stumbled upon this:

Magpul 10 round PMag
Magpul 10 round PMag announcement

Yes your eyes do not deceive you, that is Magpul's latest offering...a 10 round PMag.
I'm disappointed they would make such a product. Seeing the release date to be February 2013, there is no justification other than communist dick sucking. Whether it be from a National magazine ban or trying to appease Commiefornia(and other such States) I see this as a step in the wrong direction.

I agree the timing is really bad and I agree it's probably an attempt to front-run legislation. However, I think it's actually a useful product. The first time I went to the range with my AR, I found out that there is no need for 30 round mags for most range shooting. I put 10-20 rounds in my mags now as I think I get a better shooting experience that way while using less ammo. I don't think any legislators are going to change their vote because Magpul came out with a 10 round magazine.

10 and 20 rounders are great for prone shooting. Just saying...

A Reading from the Book of Armaments, Chapter 4, Verses 16 to 20:

Then did he raise on high the Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch, saying, "Bless this, O Lord, that with it thou mayst blow thine enemies to tiny bits, in thy mercy." And the people did rejoice and did feast upon the lambs and toads and tree-sloths and fruit-bats and orangutans and breakfast cereals ... Now did the Lord say, "First thou pullest the Holy Pin. Then thou must count to three. Three shall be the number of the counting and the number of the counting shall be three. Four shalt thou not count, neither shalt thou count two, excepting that thou then proceedeth to three. Five is right out. Once the number three, being the number of the counting, be reached, then lobbest thou the Holy Hand Grenade in the direction of thine foe, who, being naughty in my sight, shall snuff it."

I was just going to say the same thing; I guess only a small minority shoot in the prone position. I've been waiting for the new 20 round magazines b/c their Gen 2 design sucks.

I should have worded that differently. I don't necessarily think the product is useless.
I think that the timing of this is just too suspect. Yeah maybe they can be useful in prone shooting or hunting situations, but IMO its more of a reach out to the customers in states that are already safer(magazine restrictions). The same reasoning behind Ruger putting all the "safety features" on their pistols.

Again I understand money is the key motivator but why would gun companies not be on the front lines of fighting for our rights by not complying with stupid restrictions.

We already know what's gonna happen if another AWB goes through....AR companies are just gonna make "Ban friendly" ARs.

I guess I'm just fed up with all this ban mentality horseshit and fed up with stupid people.

I don't see a problem with them trying to reach customers in banned states.

Nope, look to me like a smart buisness move.

There are going to be new banned states soon too.., it isn't going to be just the handful there are now. Although I don't think the feds will succeed in passing a mag ban, there are states that will have it done quick fast and in a hurry.

Well, on top of what everybody else said, Magpul just released a new product (gen 3 pmag) and is likely elbow deep in a mass assembly run on a product that is possibly slated to be banned. They lost their Army approval which they are hoping to get back with the new pmag but no guarantees. If I were in their shoes right now I would be looking for ways to survive.

I think its great they are offering different choices for the consumer. This has been in the pipeline way longer than all this recent ban talk started. I like the fact it is such a low profile mag and will be great for hunting in the states that allow AR's.

I prefer using the old straight 20 round mags due to their shorter length. I will probably pick up a few 10 rounders.
