Making my escape from Maryland
#1
Due to a new Job I was faced with a few choices, I could commute from Frederick MD to Cockysville, I could find a place in Bodymore county or I could find a place to live in Free America. I chose to live in free America. I am active on the MD Shooters forum and I am a MSI EM. I would like to continue my 2A activism as I have lived seeing MD FSA 2013 pass even when gun owners pretty much shut down both sides of the general assembly with the thousands who came to testify against the bill.

Welcome. I came here 2 years ago, from MD, and don't regret it one bit. It's a bit "slower" here because everyone doesn't hang on every ripple in the 2A pond, waiting for concealed carry, like MSI. Yes, we have our verbal judo on here, as well, but you won't find the pantywaists dimeing you out to the MODS, like MDShooters, in fact, they'll tell you to put your big boy pants on here. You also don't have the select few favorite of the MODS constantly berating and harassing others, or calling them "ghey". In essence, "Welcome to the land of the free, because of the brave". I think you'll like it here.

Yet another replant from MD here, we've been here in York County since 2005, moved from Baltimore County. Welcome.

You're going to love your first trip to the York County Sheriff's Office. They are a fairly friendly bunch about the Second Amendment. You'll be treated with respect and the process might take as long as 2 days, if they're really backed-up!

EDIT: I'm also Curmudgeon on MDShooters. Big Grin

Somebody better pinch me now. No G&S no HRB ,no prohibitive expensive training and the LEO's actually are respectful thru out the process. never thought that a place like this actually existed.

If you want a REAL thrill, go to Lancaster County. Now, you have to understand I waited 9 months, in MD, just to get denied the first of three (3) times. So, I was FLOORED, when FL sent me my out-of-state permit in a mere 30 days. Both times I've gone, for both myself and later with my wife it took..... Wait for it...... Hold onto your chair...... No, I can't tell you because I don't want to be responsible for you to going into cardiac arrest..... OK, you asked for it...... 20 MINUTES! In and out, 20 minutes and $20!!! The plastic will still be warm when they hand it to you. No finger prints, they take the photo, you provide two (2) references that don't have to be PA residents, fill out a form. They don't blink knowing that you were denied a permit in MD... You're going to love it here!

It used to be that way in York County, but when the Mrs and I went in for our renewals a year or so ago we were told they just couldn't keep up. If you showed up with your app in hand they would take it from you and tell you to expect a post card in a day or two. Dropped my app on Friday, post card on Monday saying my "item" was ready for pick up.

The first time I went the only parking I could find was across the street at a meter that was limited to 30 minutes. When I came back out to my car there was still almost 15 minutes left on the meter.

*When you go, do not take your cell phone or any knives, and they only accept cash or check, no plastic. You won't need a passport photo, they will take one as part of the process. The application asks for 2 references, be neither mine nor my wife's were ever checked, and they don't have to be from York County, or from PA for that matter.
