Man beheaded with hands and feet bound ruled "suicide"
#1
This story is a year old, yet I cannot find a follow up, it would help if they published a name. This kind of reminds me of people who somehow "shoot themselves" twice in the head. How exactly do you cut your own head off while your hands and feet are bound? Why on earth would they not outline how this happened in the article given how outlandish the story is?

Quote:The incident happened near 46th and Sheridan.
Police say a woman who lives in the home found her husband dead in the garage.
His hands and feet were tied and the body had been decapitated.
Tulsa police told KRMG news, the death was due to suicide.
Cops gave no other details at the time but continue to investigate the matter.

Smells like bullshit to me in light of what's been happening lately...

It's possible I suppose, if you rig a device to do it. And you figure out a way to hog-tie yourself with tie wraps so you can't free yourself.

But you'd have to be REALLY dedicated to so many tasks at hand, I would figure that there would be less torturous ways to do it.

If this is true, it would have to be a Rube Goldberg suicide process.

Decapitation does not have to involve cutting with a blade.

Technically, a botched hanging with the right type of wire/rope and a long enough drop could take his head off. It was reported that it happened to Saddam. Shrug

I enjoy every minute of it.

I thought the same as a possibility, however, on average from what I've read you need to drop 5 to 8 feet for a normal man to have his neck snapped when being hung rather than just being asphyxiated. Add the height of a normal sized man since it has to be more of a straight drop rather than a swing for the same level of physical shock. and you're looking at a 11 to 15 foot altitude required INSIDE the home just to break the neck your feet would hit the ground otherwise. If you wanted someone to fall at a rate fast enough to rip his head off you're looking at probably significantly more than that, heights you'd never find inside a residential home let alone a garage. The picture on the story looks like a fairly average neighborhood to boot which is supposed to be the same neighborhood as the home. My only other guess as to how you would accomplish this would be if you have something with a massive amount of torque like a metal lathe and you wrapped your favorite tie around the chuck and around your neck and then stepped on the foot pedal.

Interesting discussion though lol.

You're not considering weight. You could be dealing with a very large and heavy man. 350+ I would imagine could do it without too much issue, can the neck withstand that much downward force?

And how it was done is key, if he tied his neck around the rafters and the garage had a small shelf or crawl space he rolled off of it could produce that straight shock. Plus the angle of tension could have caused a tearing that resulted in the decapitation.

Either way, very sad for his family.

My uncle used a garage lift in his shop that took him about 10-15 feet of the ground, no decapitation. He wasn't a big guy. Not fat by any stretch, just not a large person so his body weight was probably only about 140 or so.

I saw some pictures of a mook that cut himself in half on a large bandsaw in Allegheny county. They'd be too gruesome to post in this fine forum.

I've seen that, too. I would have never thought it possible, but there it was.

I'd like to have that band saw.

The most horrifying graphic photos I've ever seen were of a person who got their shirt caught in an industrial metal lathe, it wound their whole body around the chuck breaking nearly every bone and the proceeded to pull the person apart until someone could hit the emergency stop. You could hardly tell it was human and not an animal of some kind.

I do happen to own a miter saw that someone I knew had that he sliced his finger off with. They were able to reattach it, but he never wanted to look at that saw again so I claimed it Tongue! I have to be careful now that the saw has a taste for blood Wink.
