Massive Gun Ban Introduced in Oregon
#1
Quote:HB 3200 is Sponsored by Representatives Mitch Greenlick, Jules Bailey, Peter Buckley, Michael Dembrow, Lew Frederick, Tobias Read, Jeff Reardon, Carolyn Tomei and Senators Ginny Burdick, Jackie Dingfelder, Mark Hass, Laurie Monnes Anderson, Rod Monroe, Chip Shields, Elizabeth Steiner Hayward.

HB 3200 does the following:

Creates a crime of unlawful possession or transfer of assault weapon or large capacity magazine. Punishes by maximum penalty of 10 years’ imprisonment, $250,000 fine, or both.
Requires current owners to dispose of or register assault weapons and large capacity magazines.

Directs Department of State Police to conduct background checks and maintain registry of assault weapons and large capacity magazines.
Declares emergency, effective on passage.

This is one of the most tyrannical bills we’ve seen proposed to date. Not only does it ban most modern semiautomatic rifles and pistols, but it allows warrant-less search of your home, and creates a state-wide registry of remaining firearms, to which each person is allowed exactly one:

A person may not register more than one assault weapon and three large capacity magazines under this section. Additional assault weapons and large capacity magazines must be disposed of in the manner specified in section 3 of this 2013 Act.

Under their definition of an assault weapon, this means that you can have either a pistol or a semiautomatic rifle, but not both.

It passed in New York and it's already cleared the house in Maryland. As liberal as Oregon is I wouldn't be at all surprised.

It's happening folks. Wake up and smell the roses. More and more states are going for it. Actually pretty good way to beat and break the NRA. They couldn't possibly afford to fight all of these in court. If each State does this, even they NRA won't be able to keep up with it. They are going to have to fight all of them at once, or let some go.

Wish I had bought another thousand rounds of ammo. I'm seriously beginning to think I'm going to need it.

Oregon is extremely left wing. I wouldnt be surprised if it passes.
A gun rack in a pick-up is not for holding guns. Its a place for women to hold on to. Smile
