In the Industrial world, its considered a wear resistance plate for contact surfaces. i got some AR500 in the other day and were actually starting to make vest plates. im working with some comapines to try and get a deal on the anti spall coating for them. The most recent order i placed for 6 sq/ft of AR500 ran me $39 dollars per sq/ft. price has gone up a little and it not being a full sheet it was delivered ups from our supplier.
i will make a note that right now, the supply is low on AR500, most of our usual suppliers have been out for a while, there are a few large contracts across the nation that have been buying up most of the supply, im guessing government, but the suppliers couldn't confirm it.
If people are still interested, my offer is still open, depending on shipping and all the price might vary as time goes on.
I had not been following this thread and it seems I have missed quite a lot since the initial question was asked. I am nearby and have been contemplating getting myself a rifle target or two if I could come up with a cost effective method to stand it up so I can shoot at it. I am going to follow the discussion and keep an eye on how things progress with the stand that you are developing. I am also in the market for armor plates so please let us know if you make any progress with the coating.
Also, the Mainville Sportsman Club recently discussed purchasing some AR500 but I'm not sure if it went anywhere. I wish I had been on top of this thread at the time. Regardless, I have reached out to the club officers to inquire whether or not they are still interested. If so I am going to pass your information along to them.
