Michelle Obama: ‘I’ve had 10-year-olds who are on a phone bank’ for Barack

advocating child labor?

Quote:In the battleground state of Iowa, first lady Michelle Obama made a pitch for individuals as young as 10-years-old to help President Barack Obama win re-election.

“Here’s something that I always remind young people, because I’ve met so young people over these four years who said — told me — my parents and grandparents were not going to vote for Barack in 2008 until I talked to them and I told them what this election means for my future, and because of that conversation they voted for him. Now, that’s the power that young people can have,” Michelle Obama said Monday in Iowa City.

“It doesn’t matter how old you are. I’ve had 10-year-olds who are on a phone bank — 14-year-olds. I mean, I’m telling you, there is power because this is your future and you can tell people that they don’t have to wait until November the 6th to cast their ballots.”

The first lady went on to encourage individuals to take advantage of early voting.

“We all know that early voting has started, and there’s some good early voting happening right here in this state. I voted by mail early already, a couple of weeks ago,” she said.

“And I voted for Barack Obama, just in case you were wondering. I really, objectively feel that he’s the best man for the job.”

I don't think child labor laws apply if they're not getting paid.

Well considering most children ages 10-14 dont fully understand the long reaching effects of politics/actions this does seem to be exploitive of the children. Hell even at 19 i was still learning just how long reaching decisions can be. Probably able to say that I still am.

Wow....yeah when I was 10-14 years old I made all the decisions for my parents and grandparents....

And can someone please explain to my uneducated self what all this voting early is about? I know my girlfriend voted already but that's because it was an absentee ballot due to her being away at college.

Sadly most efforts to increase voter participation ignore the equally important component of elector eligibility. The concept of civic duty is not taught by the public school system or by absentee parents. So what we have is an electorate that wants to have no personal effort expended and an overworked polling place staff. Uninformed voters, ineligible voters, fatigued polling place workers equal opportunity for voter fraud and inaccurate results.

In my opinion, early voting while appearing to be a method for greater involvement likely offers more opportunities for fraud.

These people truely have no shame. The hypocrisy is so rampant it's just disgusting. I love how it's ok for Michelle Obama to run a sweatshop call center, but at the same time they ban children from helping with chores on their own family farms. Remember this?

Child labor in the interest of the socialist cause is fine, but if you happen to be a conservative and ask your kids to help out you are the lowest form of scum. All you can do anymore is shake your head. Naked Marxists with no shame at all...

But if we do away with early voting, that makes it harder for people to vote twice, or more. I mean, if voting once is exercising one's rights, it must be good to vote more than once, right? Rolleyes

Ahhh, the joys of hypocrisy. Even if Mrs. O did mean "14", I agree that it is still exploiting kids. At that age, people are generally incapable of thinking long-term and about the "big picture". Not all, but enough that this is more exploitation than it is allowing the brown shirts volunteers to help.

Except when it applies to kids working doing chores on family farms. That's what the Obama Administration wanted to make illegal.

Quote:A proposal from the Obama administration to prevent children from doing farm chores has drawn plenty of criticism from rural-district members of Congress.

Again, an example of the "We will happily do what we make illegal for YOU to do" left.
