Montana lawmaker asks state to pay him in gold and silver

Quote:Montana lawmaker asks state to pay him in gold and silver over dollar concerns

A legislator from Columbia Falls is asking the state to pay him in gold and silver coins because he is skeptical about the future of the dollar.

Republican Rep. Jerry O'Neil justified his request in his letter to Montana Legislative Services this week by saying a clause in the U.S. Constitution says no state shall "make anything but gold and silver coin a tender in payment of debts."

O'Neil writes that he believes the high national debt makes it possible the bottom will fall out from under the U.S. dollar.

O'Neil says he does not know how legislative services will respond.

But he tells the Daily Inter Lake he is trying to get people to start thinking about what will happen if the U.S. currency collapses

You see it as a negative, I see it as a positive Smile

I would move there in a heartbeat today, if I could find a job out there.

South Dakota isn't Montana, and $15 an hour won't cut it.

Though, I won't discount SD entirely....

SD is Montana in a different location.

And i wasn't suggesting you work at McDonalds...i was suggesting that EVERYONE out there is not just finding work, but highly lucrative work. Whatever you do here, you'll make 30-50% more doing it THERE.

The downside with that, is cost of living increases to accommodate the higher wages. If I still am paying the same or more to get a similar sized home & land combo that I have now, the motivation to move is not quite as high.

Getting in early on a boom is great, going into it mid swing...not so much.

I'm looking for somewhere that I can get dozens of acres with a good size house for under 150k, still making similar (or not much lower) to what I am now. If I can't, it's not worth the move...at this time.
