More Damn Stores
#1
So I noticed that there is yet another shopping center being built (across from the Regal Warrington). As if 611 traffic doesn't suck enough...

Also noticed one of the new stores is a Buffalo Wild Wings. Lovely... At least I know I won't ever be eating there since they won't allow me to protect myself. Just sucks that there were no BW3's in this area... now there will be.

They just went nuts with building all kinds of shops down here in the past couple of years. There's even a new nifty name they've given to "strip malls" but I can't remember exactly what it is, something like "linear retail space" or some such nonsense.

There's also been a steady proliferation of brick/mortar banks, which I don't understand with so many doing online banking, do we really need a bank every couple of miles? Been a big increase in these medical franchises too.

Working with one of the kids in their school work the other day one of the questions was "What's the leading industry in PA?" I was surprised to see the answer is "service". That's both sad and disturbing.

Delaware County is lousy with strip malls. A lot of them have empty stores. Every time a new one opens a new red light goes up with it. Granite Run Mall is a ghost town.

Malls, strip malls, the employees act like you're ruining they're day if you ask a question. I miss the days of mom & pop stores where they knew you, where you got personal service.

The newest thing around here are "Town centers". Every motherfucking new development thinks that they need shops right near them. These idiots are moving here from the city, and finding out that the stores aren't within 3.5seconds of their front door so they're expecting stores near by. They buildings get built and then it's a stream of shops opening and closing because the business isn't there to maintain the lease.

The built one not too far from me that looks like an inner city block with a narrow street between two sets of 2 story buildings. How quaint, and inner city block on what was prime farmland.

assholes.

The one in Warrington will include (yet another) WalMart as well as a Red Robin, I think.

Oh fuck! Seriously? There is a Walmart in Warminster and in Willow Grove. They really need a 3rd Walmart within just a few miles of each other?

Red Robin I'm OK with.

A lot of people are saying that. It's right between the one on Street Rd and the one on Blair Mill. Supposed to be a Super-WM, too.

bigdawgbeav, when I lived down there nothing was there just the Barn Cinema. No 4 lane York Road or any 202 or 611 bypasses. The year CBE opened I could ride my dirt bike from Edison to Holicong all off road. Only police force was state and Doylestown Boro. Warwick had one cop with a big block Impala.

Get used to it you can't stop what some call progress. Yep it sucks.

I have distinct memories of when there was a total of 9 traffic lights from the turnpike to Edison-Furlong Rd. And I'm actually dreading the days when JRB Willow Grove is turned into massive amounts of housing and retail.

Guess I haven't been keeping up with current events because I was not aware. Thanks for the headsup we have a new one near us and I was planning to go. Not anymore.
