More "workplace violence" at Ft. Hood
#1
Another shooting at Ft. Hood. I'll be interesting to see why this clown cracked. What a fucking joke it must look like to other countries how we keep having these shootings at our military bases and every time our soldiers are defenseless. Ban the military from having guns at all! Ban high capacity mags for soldiers! That oughta' fix it!

As Savage says... liberalism is a mental disorder.

I thought there was a fort-hood style plot recently foiled?

Apparently not foiled enough, but from what I read this could actually be workplace violence or a case where the guy actually was whacked out due to his experiences overseas.

One thing is clear--expect more calls for more gun control by closing the gun-show loophole, bans of assault style rifles and high capacity 'clips' because of mental illness.

They said it was a S&W .45 caliber handgun. I assume it was a M&P and that holds 10 rounds, I believe. You have to remember it is a big election year. I think any politician who proposes any gun control is committing political suicide....especially after Colorado and Connecticut.

Looks like the shooter was Latino, so workplace violence won't stick. That only works for Muslims. This one is the "mental health issue", excuse.

If we lie to the government, it's a crime. If the government lies to the people, it's called politics.

Oh, I know...but the facts won't stand in the way of trying to ban what it is they want to ban, it's simply "one more shooting" which "could have been worse, had he carried in an automatic bushwacker with a drum clip bought at a gun-show."

Evidently a reporter I was watching thought he was Russian, calling him I-vin instead of Evon.

Quote:Evon wears his war wound like a crown
He calls his child Jesus
'Cause he likes the name
And he sends him to the finest school in town

Evon, Evon likes his money
He makes a lot they say
Spend his days counting
In a garage by the motorway

He was born a pauper to a pawn on a Christmas day
When the New York Times said God is dead
And the war's begun
Alvin Tostig has a son today

And he shall be Evon
And he shall be a good man
And he shall be Evon
In tradition with the family plan
And he shall be Evon
And he shall be a good man
He shall be Evon

Evon sells cartoon balloons in town
His family business thrives
Jesus blows up balloons all day
Sits on the porch swing watching them fly

And Jesus, he wants to go to Venus
Leaving Evon far behind
Take a balloon and go sailing
While Evon, Evon slowly dies

So there's reports that he was on Ambien, and there's been talk that past "spree" shooters have been on similar medication. I wonder how many more snaps like this we have to have before someone takes a serious look at this?

Isn't Ambien one of the ones that the commercial actually lists a side effect as suicidal thoughts? I guess as long as they put a warning label on there and tell you to contact your doctor if you have them their bases are covered.

People on sleeping medication tend to be depressed. I'd lean towards the depression causing the suicides not the.medication.

The media's take is very different this time.

Just about zero talk about "common-sense gun control" on CNN and MSNBC.

Focus is on the "broken" mental health system and inadequate care of returning soldiers.

And they're even asking why in the hell there aren't more of the competent personnel on bases aren't armed and prepared to deal with exigent situations like this.
