My first AR is up and running!

Went out and got the upper today and went straight to the range.

Ate up a 100ct bulk pack of Federal and a box of Federal Tracers without a single issue.

I think a Vortex Strikefire will be next. For what I will use this for I decided against my original plan of an Aimpoint of Eotech - the cost difference will be better used for more ammo

Build list:

Spikes stripped lower
Spikes buffer assembly w/ T2 buffer
Spikes Midlength upper
PSA LPK w/ MOE accessories
Magpul Hand Guard
Magpul STR stock
Magpul MBUS rear sight
Magpul 30-round PMags

As it sits on the table: $924 without shipping/tax/transfer

What a black rifle should look like.

Shoot irons, until you can afford an AimPoint. The PRO is only 4 bills.
I'm only here for the 'Foxes with Firearms' thread.

If they take our guns, who will protect our children?

$400 aimpoint or $150 vortex + $250 in ammo. It's a range/shtf toy for now. I think the latter option is the better one for now. Should I decide the aimpoint is needed later the vortex could go on the 15-22 I still want

Thanks for the positive feedback ... its appreciated

Congrats.

How do you like the hand guard? Is it "solid" feeling?
I keep saying I'm going to get one of those to replace my standard hand guard, but haven't yet.

Tracer fire would be cool. I bought a few boxes a while back, but have nowhere to shoot them. (club prohibits them)

I really like the hand guard. It does feel solid and its not as big/bulky as the stock "M4" ones. For the price too its well worth it.

Of course, at some point ill try out a lo-pro gas block and a free float rail, but until then, this is perfect for me

Very nice. It's fun building them, I'm getting kind of addicted to it.

I just built a PSA parts rifle. I was adding it up and came in at $700. Subtract the $130 rear Diamondhead sight and it comes in down right cheap. I'll be keeping an eye out for a used, inexpensive rear sight.

I was doing some addition on some other parts PSA had on sale and I could bring a complete rifle in for $555.

My how things have changed.
I'm currently looking to buy an AK47 and it's hard to find even the lowly WASR for less than $500.

That's pretty much what mine looks like as of right now. Except instead of Spike's mine is all BCM. Same Magpul stuff. I want to get a MIAD(or AI?) grip though.

I think the MOE handguard is great compared to a standard handguard. Unless you really "need" a rail it's perfect. And if you really want to add stuff to it, it's easy and fairly cheap compared to some rail systems.

Also shooting irons until I figure out what to put on it. And I actually kinda like open sights, more of a challenge. But I'm leaning towards Aimpoint.

I picked up most of my parts off of "the other site". I'm at about $1000, so I think I did well.

Finally got my sight ... Vortex Strikefire (red dot only). Loving it so far and for my uses, much more practical than a $400+ Aim point
