My new Savage Axis
#1
I just picked one up today, decided it was about time to get myself a new hunting rifle. It was a toss up, I was also looking at the Ruger but in the end the Savage was right in front of me at my LGS...and there was Christmas money burning a hole in my pocket. I didn't need the accutrigger, I have a MKII bolt .22 w/ the accutrigger and while it is a nice feature...not really necessary. The detachable mag will be a welcomed change instead of racking shells in and out of an internal mag like I do now. Speaking of throwing the bolt, that sure isn't false advertising when they claim "silky smooth". Now what I need is optics, this is where you guys come in. I've always been a Leupold kinda guy but I know there has to be something that will perform just as well and won't cost more than the gun did. I'm thinking either 3x9 or 4x12...either one would suit my needs.
What say you?

BTW, why is it we don't have a optics section Huh

Looks good to me. It would compliment half of the jackets I own. Tongue

Looks awesome! Which caliber did you go with? Also did you go with a realtree or mossy oak stock?

It's chambered in .30-06 w/ the Mossy Oak camo, it just happened to be camo...I would have been fine with evil black. Wink I'm curious to see just how accurate it is.

Picked up a 30-06 Savage without the accu trigger last year and its one of the most accurate I have. May be the best bang for the buck out there.

What ATV mount are you using? I'm looking for something simple for my Grizzly.

It was a package deal that came with a rack seat. This is the seat but I don't see the gun rack included. Shrug

Forgot to answer, mine came with a Simmons 3 - 9 X 40mm Variable Power Scope which I never bothered to upgrade since is shoots dead on as is.
