Although, I still think it's cool as shit and I would love to see the first production shoulder fired designs.

Yes it was talked about years ago. I guess it took a while to get it to work on a ship.I dont know.

If you watch the video it mentions it costs a fraction of what a standard missile costs.

Eliminating the need for explosives aboard ship ( thereby reducing the risks of secondary explosions if attacked), the ability to run smaller vessels with more firepower and less crew, and a projectile that can't be intercepted by enemy missile defense means less fired rounds and more enemies destroyed per shot. That seems a lot more efficient.
