Need some gun help

I have been looking at a Sig Sauer P238 and I love it and want it. Its like a mini 1911. The problem is its kinda expensive. I want to sell my Ruger LC9 and get a mini 1911. Does anyone here know of any mini 1911 style .380 that would be slightly cheaper?

Colt Mustang?

They had stopped production years ago which drove the price of used ones up to around $800.
Colt started producing them again a few years ago.

About $635

EDIT: Sorry. Had no idea what that Sig cost. Just looked before hitting "submit".
This may be more from the looks of it.

Yeah, the Sig is also "spendy", and it looks like the two are comparably priced.

I've never owned a 238, but I've emptied a few mags on a friends pistol and I have to say I was really pleasantly surprised at how controllable and accurate it was, and how much fun it was to shoot.

The Sig P238 is probably the smallest handgun I've ever held but it really didn't feel like it, and I'd already own a pair (one for me, one for the Mrs) if they weren't so expensive.

I wish you luck finding its equal.

I just picked one up last weekend….I absolutely love it!

I had been looking at them for a little while as well and as luck would have it there was a slightly used P238 SAS in the case when I was at the range last weekend. Got it with 2 mags, a box of Hornadays and a holster. Out the door for under 550.

I ran a hundred rounds through it while there and it hasn't left my side since! ('kept for a good cleaning when I got home!)

I would say keep your eye out and you can still get lucky find a good deal on them.

Honestly, get what you want and don't compromise. Buying used always helps. Save up for an extra month or two and you'll thank yourself later.

One word. Layaway. Go to PHC gun vault and look on gunbroker. PHC does 9mo layaway with no penalty for paying it off early. Good luck.

I have a mustang. I use it as a pocket gun. You don't see used ones often. I would not mind getting a second one.

Haha. Some of us haz bigger pocketz than others. Wink

I have a Pony and have no plans on selling it - ever.

As I mentioned, they are back in production now, so that should make finding one much easier now.

Do a search - they offer a polymer frame version now as well.

A polymer frame Mustang should weigh nothing.

My own advice is to keep the Ruger, save up for the Sig. Most people often regret selling their guns, unless they really didn't like it. Myself, the only gun I don't regret getting rid of was a Davis CA380.

If you just don't like the Ruger, hold on to it anyway, and save up for at least half of what a brand new Sig would cost. Then, find a used one, and use the Ruger towards a partial trade.
