Need to find a group to fall in with
#11
We've tended to stay local with prep groups. Best to keep it with a small cadre.

Hmmm I need a group too and I am not far from you.

Be on the lookout for a naked fat guy running around the area yelling "its' time"...that is meSpotdance

Or it might be me.Big Grin

Have grub, gear, guns and ammo. So I'd like to find a local
group to fall in with.

All I can say is approach any "group" with extreme caution. There are a lot of idiots out there, on top of that who know who is a Fed or informant bent on being an agent provocateur.

A few years back there was a PA gathering of "preppers" from a survivalist website, it was a meet and greet picnic and shoot. I hate to say it....but never again. There were perhaps 2 other serious folks out of about 2 dozen that showed up that brought any real skills to the table. I bailed on the group...and the website.

I have even told my own brother to pretty much pound sand when a few years back after seeing my preps, he made the comment, "If anything happens, I am coming to your house".

I told him if your truck and trailer aren't full of food, guns, ammo and fuel, don't bother showing up. On top of that, you better leave your lazy attitude because there will be a ton of physical WORK to do and do not bring your worthless cats and dog either or they will be what you eat the first day at my place.

That particular subject hasn't come up since, I continue to prep.....he continues to be a lazy SOB.

That is the big problem. I don't like getting involved with strangers.

I suspect it will be the group of neighbors that bands together.

Two neighbors prep but keep a low profile about it.

This is how I feel, most likly small groups of well aquainted people will band together if something long term happens. I try to feel people out and get to understand how they would react in a crisis. I have a few people I would trust and a few others I would keep away at all costs.

Basically I think she is looking for "like thinking people" like those on this sight. Not necessarily a Militia Force to join.

I can be wrong. But she is looking for a couple people that are also thinking that it may be better to be prepared for something stupid to happen, than to sit on the couch saying it never will.

You don't have to train religiously. But you do have to think somewhat alike. Your group may only consist of two, three or more people. But you all understand that if things go badly that your "group" has agreed to maybe meet at so and so's house as a group. You have discussed what each of you is expected to bring a head of time. You have discussed how far you're willing to go to defend what you have from others. Are willing to maybe take classes on shooting, self defense, first aid. Maybe are willing to stock pile food and water and ammo, just in case.

I think this is the kind of "group" she is looking for. But then... I could be wrong.

But if she does run down the street naked. I'm moving close enough to join the group she does join.

Once you feel them out. Approach them about it. Come right out and discuss it. If they think your crazy, then you may not really want them in your "group" if things go badly.

I have a friend of mine that we have both agreed that if things go badly, he is bringing his family to my house. We have talked about what each of us currently have at our homes. We have talked about what we may still need to get. His wife is a RN. My wife is an LPN. He has a bunch of training in firearms as do I. We both have martial arts training. We both have like interest so we enjoy hanging out together. I wish I had more "friends" but right now. It is just him and me.

I have other gun buddies. But I don't know if I would want them around me and my family if things go badly.

Exactly what I was doing out West. We called it building tribe.
If things got so bad one place (the largest and one that had the
best vantage points) would be a fall back location.
Everyone had some type of skill and also trained together.
So now that I'm staying East I was looking for a similar type
of group. Maybe this is more of a thing out West. Prepping
seems to be much bigger out there. I even noticed at WalMart
they sold #10 cans of Mountain House foods, haven't seen that
at any WalMarts around here

None in Wal-mart. But Gander Mt. does carry them if you have one of them near you.

Wish we were closer, we could sit down and discuss things. If you ever have to flee east. Hunt me and my buddy up.

Having lived in CO for many years the big difference is population density, which is low in CO outside of the Ft Collins/Denver/CO Springs/Pueblo corridor.

Lots of open country to hole up, easily defensible,.

In the east, the population density makes this a much more difficult proposition.
