[Negative] Wal-Mart Stroudsburg/East-Stroudsburg, smart asses.
#1
I went to pick up some extra 9mm and 22LR ammo yesterday at the Wal-Mart in Stroudsburg/East Stroudsburg and it was a bad experience. First they didn't have any bulk packs of Federal 22LR or the Tula 9mm which are my principal ammo types, that's a first for me. So I ended up paying an additional $12-$15 more for the same amount of 9mm and 200 rounds less of 22LR. It wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't for the guy behind the register. I typically buy my ammo online and I haven't bought ammo from Wal-Mart in months so the guy asks for my drivers license. I say "Why? You aren't going to put me on a mailer or something?" He starts mumbling something along the lines of I am doing my job and it being company policy but again I could tell he was being a smart ass about it just by the look on his face. Honestly I couldn't make it all out in great detail.

I was working all day and tired so instead of raising hell and asking to see a manager I just rolled my eyes then paid. When I was asking about the limited types of ammo he seemed just like I was disturbing him from his sleep. I went to Wal-Mart's in Matamoras, Wayne County and Dickson City when buying or looking at the Firearm Counter. Until now I never had a bad experience. Just to let you know it was an older black man I dealt with in this Wal-Mart. After thinking about it I regret not raising hell but I never felt comfortable going to that Wal-Mart (I had to make a stop somewhere else in town for family business and it was on my way) and wanted to get out of there before someone vandalized or stole my car. On the up side I realized after getting to the car that the 100 rounds of 9mm purchased was Remington UMC JHP's that was $27 and change while the other bulk pack of FMJ rounds were $24.

I will continue to avoid that Wal-Mart whenever possible, especially after that. Angry

I have never shown ID to buy ammo at Walmart. Never even been asked, I've bought it from all three stores in the area here and one store in KoP. So if it's company policy, it's either new or the other stores aren't following it.

The only thing that I know of that is company policy is asking if it's for a handgun or rifle. Since I generally only buy .22lr from Walmart, then I just say both.

IDing for ammo is Walmart policy. If they choose not to enforce it, fine. If they do, don't cry about it.

At the walmart nearest me, every time I buy ammo (that could be used in a handgun, anyway) you can actually see the question come up on the display.

Fortunately (or not) my age is so apparent the blind can 'see' it, and I have never been asked. A couple times there has been a barely detectable chuckle from the clerk. Just another side of the coin.

It might be that there are worse things than being ID'd. Undecided

It's not that Walmart, it's that guy. He is a stereo-typical old black dude, from like a 50's movie, you know, the one who sweeps up outside the barbershop and grumbles about "the man"... He is the worst guy in the place and about as helpful as an empty bottle of Advil when you have a headache.... Every time you ask him something he acts like you just called his house at 3AM to ask if his refrigerator was running..

Thats nothing new, seems like every store has one on their payroll. I love the ones that try and tell you it's federal law.

I remember this happening at Wal-Mart up in Wayne county back in spring. However the guy explained the policy in a friendly manor, he didn't devolve into a dick like this guy.

As a customer they owe me an explanation. I work in a customer orientated job and if I pulled that stun I would be written up or possibly fired for that kind of shit.

Well I am nearly 26. I just got shaved and a hair cut so I guess I did look kinda young. Still you don't treat a customer like that when they ask a simple question.

That's exactly how I felt when purchasing the ammo. I might be purchasing more 22 ammo next Friday maybe I will go back and raise hell about his behavior.

I am so rarely in that Wal-Mart that I don't keep track of the ammo they carry but the other 3 Wal-Mart's in the region that I have visited carry at least some Tula. Did you have any experiences with this cranky old man though? Huh

yes, he is not helpful at all and takes his sweet ass time with everything he does, but I typically know what I'm going in for and can see for myself if they have it or not. He has not carded me for it though.

I know that the one in Mt Pocono usually has some Tula.

Yeah, if this outing wasn't so spur of the moment I would have purchased my ammo elsewhere. Live and learn I guess.
