WASHINGTON — The Defense Department has grounded its fleet of F-35 fighter jets after one of them caught fire as it was preparing to take off at Eglin Air Force Base in Florida.

The grounding is the second in a month and the latest in a long string of delays that has plagued the Air Force’s newest fighter aircraft. It comes as the plane was to make its international flying debut during showings to prospective buyers at two air shows in Britain beginning next week. http://www.nytimes.com/2014/07/05/us/f-3....html?_r=0

Throw a few billion more dollars at it. It'll be fine.
Ammunition, it's the new lead bullion. Buy it cheap and stack it deep.

Maybe a fire extinguisher? Hey, the government built it, what could go wrong?

Too early to damn the new platform. Both the F15 and F16 were in the same boat as was most advanced weapon systems.

That said, damn they are way insanely expensive.

The government didn't build it, the lowest bidder did...

Didn't they stop building F-22s, far below their projected numbers? Also aren't they grounded because they don't function correctly?
