New EDC. Hint: Not another 6" Stainless Revolver

It's a brand new Smith & Wesson Bodyguard in .380 with the built in Insight lazer which toggles between off, on and pulse. It's shorter than my pen and weighs a lot less than the LC9, It's also solid feeling in the hand with a nice clean trigger pull.

Toss is in your pocket and forget it's there. I went from owning a Taurus 689 Stainless 6" .357 Revolver to a Smith & Wesson 686 6" .357 Revolver and I caught the "Smith" bug. Hey, look, I'm posting a topic about guns. I haven't done that in how many years? lol.

Very nice. Giving me the urge to start looking for a backup gun again.

Thanks guys. I've noticed as I've gotten older and further away from the bachelor lifestyle I'm more comfortable with much less attention. I scarcely open carry anymore and my collection of full-size guns wasn't really going to cut it. As time went on, I wound up not carrying at all done days simply out of convenience. My fiance would usually have her's but our family's safety isn't her burden alone.

So have you got out to see how it shoots? If not, when you do let us know how you like it.

I haven't actually fired it yet. My dad owns the same gun though and I fired his numerous times. It shoots a lot better than the alternative pocket pistols in my experience. The built in laser definitely needs to be calibrated our of the box.

The Mrs has expressed a desire to begin the early stages of shopping around for a small lightweight semi in the .380 range, and although rather spendy I have looked more toward the Sig P238 and it's SA trigger. The counter guy at my recent stop kept putting the S&W in my hands after everything else I tried saying, "Now what do you think of the Smith?", and I began to see and feel his point, the damn thing was beginning to grow on me.

I don't recall seeing one with the laser, but that and a slightly extended mag, say +1 cartridge and pinky extension one one of the magazines, along with the laser, and we would taking a serious look at this against the SIG. I'm really interested in your own range report. I've shot a friends P238 and was really impressed with it for a pistol that disappeared in your hand.

Would you be willing to say the approximate price range of the price as shown? The Site are typically $550 - $700.

I bought mine from Tanner's in Jamison. It was $370 with the built in insight laser. The bodyguard includes two magazines. One has the pinky extension and the other does not. As big a fan I am of pinky extensions it feels better in the pocket with out it.

I looked at the Sig, it feels like it weighs twice that of the Smith it also costs a lot more. I like the 1911 style trigger but for a likely defense gun like the bodyguard the heavier trigger is probably preferable.

My dad's was very accurate with the laser at fifteen and thirty feet ranges. I'll report back on mine as soon as I have a chance to shoot it.

I still have the receipt in my wallet. It was $379. So for $411 I walked out with the guardian, a holster and two boxes of .380

Yeah, see that half the price I was seeing for the particular P238 I was looking at. And although the Smith trigger had a longer pull it also had a fairly clean break. And those are some pretty pimp lines for squeezing a laser into a pistol as tiny as a pocket .380. The laser they hang off the front of the Sigs is rather bulky and unattractive, and most of all, it looks unwieldy. Smith looks smooth.

The Mrs is a tightwad. If I show her both, and let her shoot both, I know for a fact which one she'll pick. Now we just need to go do it. This makes me happy, because I was going to sell some stuff I would rather not sell to finance the additional cost of a Sig. I could put her in a SW outright and still keep our other toys, AND give her a laser.

Shit, I'm, starting to think I want one myself. Cool
