New EDC. Hint: Not another 6" Stainless Revolver
#11
Here's a copy of the e-mail I dispatched to Smith&Wesson after my first range trip.

Good Morning,
I recently purchased a brand new S&W Bodyguard .380 with Insight Laser. I brought it to the range with two brand new boxes of factory ammunition and followed the instructions in inspecting and loading the gun. The gun correctly fired the first round but did not correctly feed the second round. The slide was not completely forward, it was about 9/10ths of the way forward and it was jammed. The slide took a bit of fighting and wiggling to get it to come back to the rear and eject the round. This happened about 9 out of 10 times I fired the gun.
I used two boxes of ammunition and two different magazines both included with the gun. This gun was purchased as an everyday carry gun and I feel it would put my life in danger in it's current level of performance. It is not my first gun, nor my first S&W. I appreciate any assistance you can provide.

I didn't have any problem with how it shot, it shot very well. I didn't have enough consistency to adjust the laser but it's accurate enough to put holes on the 8.8x11" paper sheets I use at 50ft. I did, as you can tell, have a problem with when it shot. Which was almost never. 9 times out of 10 it didn't operate. So, if I load it up and make sure that first round is loaded correctly I may get one good shot out of it before it becomes a throwing weapon.

In the processing of sending it back to Smith & Wesson currently. It's a good thing it's not the only gun I own.

Well, that sucks. In my experience, S&W's customer service was beyond superb. I sent them my Sigma 9VE that started to having feeding issues and a bad mag catch. They paid for shipping both ways, and I had a practically new gun back in exactly 14 days.

Yeah, that's what I've heard.

Still no gun. Will report back if I ever see it again, lol.

Got it back today. How many days was that?

Brought it to the range to shoot another box of ammo. 10/10 shots fired without a hiccup. My accuracy was a little off as about 1/2 of the shots were kill shots at 50 feet.

Sadly, that seems to be an oft-told story with this particular pistol. At least I've seen it pretty frequently.
