Quote:WASHINGTON (AP) — The next time a flight attendant reminds you there's no smoking on the plane or you witness a teenager getting carded at a liquor store, think of Frank Lautenberg.

The Democratic senator from New Jersey left his mark on the everyday lives of millions of Americans, whether they know it or not. In the 1980s, he was a driving force behind the laws that banned smoking on most U.S. flights and made 21 the drinking age in all 50 states.

Lautenberg, a multimillionaire businessman who became an accomplished — if often underestimated — politician, died after 4 a.m. EDT on Monday at a New York hospital after suffering complications from viral pneumonia.

I'm sorry for the loss to friends and family.

I'm neither, so good riddance.
Frank was a threat to freedom for 30+yrs.

I feel the same. I can feel for those that were close to him but I consider his death to be a benefit to all those that love freedom. I will not mourn his passing.

More importantly, who will Christie replace him with. I don't trust the man to have any party loyalty. Even if he does, the new Senator from NJ will definitely be a RINO.

I think good riddance out of office would have been more than enough. He is now off for God to judge his life.

NJ has about as right a Gov as is possible. As usual the all or nothing absolutists crowd would just rather have the nothing.

How can I express my deepest condolences? Words can not truly express how I feel.

This will be the best security for maintaining our liberties. A nation of well-informed men who have been taught to know and prize the rights which God has given them cannot be enslaved. It is in the religion of ignorance that tyranny begins. -Ben Franklin

12 years since I've touched a real router, and I can't even remember how to do a basic initial configuration--nor am I feeling especially adventurous to try.

This dyed-in-the-wool liberal nonetheless has little use for those who are selective about their support for civil rights.

You might think that but you'd be wrong.
