New Jersey strikes again

stop
Poor old guy. He was in a no win situation when they decided they wanted to search his car. (I got that from another article...they wanted to search his car for some whatever reason, and then he told them he had it. They let him go, but arrested him later.) Funny old guy too..."flintlock drive by shootings" LOL.

How can they take his pension from him? That's just pure evil. He should never have retired in New Jersey.

http://www.foxnews.com/us/2015/02/18/fli...in-prison/

Quote:A retired teacher is facing 10 years in prison and the loss of his state pension for possessing a flintlock pistol that may not have been fired since George Washington was alive, his attorney told FoxNews.com on Wednesday.

In a case that underscores the Garden State's strict gun laws, Gordon Van Gilder, a retired English teacher and collector of historical items, has been charged with criminal possession of a handgun and faces up to 10 years in prison. If the 72-year-old is convicted, the charge carries a mandatory minimum sentence of 3.5 years and the pension Van Gilder earned as an educator could be revoked, penalties attorney Evan Nappen called "outrageous."

“It’s crazy," Nappen told FoxNews.com. "The gun was unloaded and strictly possessed as a historical relic. We’re hoping the prosecutor will exercise discretion and dismiss his case.”

Van Gilder readily acknowledged the unloaded gun was in his glove compartment and wrapped in cloth when he was pulled over for a traffic violation in Cumberland County in November 2014, according to Nappen. He had recently bought the gun and was planning to add it to his collection of antiques, which includes other old firearms, the lawyer said.

"Apparently there must be a lot of drive-by flintlock shootings in North Jersey."

Glad to see that NJ has cured itself of all other violent crimes, thus giving them the time to go after people like Mr. Gilder. Dodgy

Admit nothing.  Deny everything. Demand proof.
If we lie to the government, it's a crime. If the government lies to the people, it's called politics.

Not the weapon of choice for criminals.

I'm currently scheduled to attend a Dodge "SRT" track day event at a race track in NJ. You get to drive their vehicles really fast.

If I can't find another event that lines up with my schedule outside of NJ, I'm going to miss out.

I have agreed to go to Camden. CAMDEN! Because the wife really wants to see a concert (we haven't been in the near three years since our baby was born), and fucking Camden is the only reasonably place close they are playing.

I haven't entered the state of New Jersey in the last 8 to 9 years due to there ridiculous tyranny... And I can almost see the state from where I live.

Hopefully it's another near decade until I'm forced to go there again. Barring any miracle of God or enlightenment by alien beings... That state is fucked up.

Reading and Hershey usually have the same bands/musicians performing. Every time I am crossing the Walt Whitman back into Philly, I feel like I am paying $5 to re-enter 'Merica. I tell my girlfriend all the time I must really love her if I leave my gun at home and drive to Jersey to visit her. It's a shame too because she has 8 acres of land and I can easily shoot on her land. At least I can ride her horses and shoot archery at her house. Thankfully, she's set on moving to PA when we buy a house together.

Next big challenge...finding at least 5 acres of land and a 3 bedroom house within an hour from Philly for $300k or less. Dodgy

Amazing....they'll strip HIM of his pension, but other state officials who have been found guilty of worse keep theirs.

Makes me sick.

I saw a facebook meme today that I thought was quite appropriate.

"Does anyone else see the irony of the anti-gun culture that insists the 2nd Amendment was 'meant for muskets' and then arrests an old man for transporting an antique flintlock pistol?"

I would hope any sane judge would throw this out. But it is NJ and sane judges seem hard to come by these days.
