New Material Stops 9mm

That's because he shoots himself several times a week and doesnt want bruising. It doesnt change the impact/knockdown power of the round itself in the slightest. I never once said you wouldnt get a nice bruise for your troubles if you get capped in your soft vest.

You will. Smile

How about live 1950s TV? Big Grin

Note the total lack of knockdown power.

You can see he gets hit, takes it fully without moving, then after a delay while his brain processes what just happened, he gets startled and takes a step back. You see this a lot in these videos. That's with 60 year old vest technology. Wink

BTW, here's a story about a criminal wearing body armor, so while fairly rare, it does happen:

Na amigo, you didn't get it. There were no 7 round .44 mags in 1988. Yet he just demoed one. There is no lead that comes out of the paper or the vest, yet he fired 2 rounds into the paper 1 of which went through the vest. WTF?????

So you're saying that the owner of second chance body armor is faking it? LOL, i wonder why the military channel featured him in the show i linked to in my last post. Wink

If you don't believe me go back and rewatch that vid. I watched it three times. I couldn't believe what I saw the first time so I watched it again and again after I picked my jaw up off the floor. It was a good edit job but it had to have been edited.

The Military channel is owned by Discovery networks, it's sister channels are Animal Planet, TLC, Discovery, Science, Investigation Discovery and Discovery Fit & Health. None of which I would trust for accuracy.

Look at the last link i posted, there are probably a dozen tests in that video, including with an AK-47.

Here's another genius shooting himself point blank with his Glock 10mm:

He whines and moans about it, but that's cause of the lack of adrenaline and the fact that no one is currently trying to kill him. In a real gun fight he wouldnt have even been affected by that.

He doesn't even flinch.

I can only post the video evidence. Short of shooting you in the chest with a 9mm+P+ while you're wearing my IIIA so you can see for yourself, there's only so much i can do to convince ya. Wink

There are tons of videos out there though, and studies, if you want to do some more research.

Handguns can cause bruising, but that's about it, and they certainly lack the power to knock a person back or down.

He shoots 3 rounds in preparation for the test. 2 into the woodblock and 1 into the phonebook/magazines.

At the 3:00 minute mark he makes a point of saying that he was putting the magazines in there to "take out some of the shock." He then shoots 1 round into the body armor.

He then shoots 3 more rounds into the woodblock. That makes 7 rounds without reloading in a .44 mag in 1988? The day before his 44th birthday. On top of that he takes the vest apart and the magazines apart and still doesn't find either of the bullets he fired into the magazines.

It's not that I distrust you, but that is not a video to stake anyone's reputation on.

He shoots himself with the 4th shot, then shoots the wood twice. 6 shots total by my count. The first bullet went clear through the magazines and the wood that was holding them up. You can see the hole in the wood. The other I'd think is in the vest, although he didn't dig it out for us on camera.

Why is it every time there is a post about a caliber, it has to be shouted from the rooftops about the 5.7?

Personally, I don't give two shits about the caliber. Is it nice? Sure. I'm not dropping the cash on the hardware, or the ammo for it.

I just don't see why every sing time someone says "LOL insert caliber here" it has to be posted about a different caliber.

I'm just so tired of seeing posts about that caliber in more threads than it needs to be. It goes fast and hits hard, great. So does superman on viagra.

Hancock does that without Viagra.

C'mon, get with the times old timer.Big Grin

Anyway, I get you on the cost of a 5.7, but the ammo not so much. $20-$23 for 50 rounds is not that bad considering other calibers are more than that.
other than Tula or Wolf, that's pretty much the cost of .223

Don't read my posts.

But the simple fact is that a Five Seven firing the factory 28gr OTM makes IIIA armor quite obsolete.

Good FN factory 28gr OTM 5.7mm ammo is less than half the per round price of Corbon 9mm DPX and many other typical 9mm premium defense loads.

Question: That article you linked said that the guy was charged with "unlawful wearing of a body vest." Am I missing something? I was under the impression that wearing body armor is perfectly legal.
