Hi there, Keith from Schuylkill County. I logged into PAFOA for the 1st time in a while, and saw mention of this forum, so I figured why not. I don't hunt, but I do enjoy target shooting, plinking mostly. I guess that would explain the four 22's in the collection, and the 5th on the way this week or next. I also have two 9mm pistols for CCW.

I'm kind of in limbo as far as getting out to plink right now. Since I don't belong to any clubs, it's hard to find a place to shoot. And one local spot seems to be constantly clogged with people all the time. Plus the lack of available ammo is frustrating as well.

I tend to lurk forums more then participate, but who knows, maybe I'll get to meet some people over time and find a spot to go kill some paper Big Grin

Welcome karacer... I'm new here myself and have enjoyed the forum so far. I think you'll do the same.

As far as ranges, I'm in the western part of the state and many in our area are closed to new membership due to Marcellus shale exploration. I have a buddy who let his membership lapse at our club and now he can't get back in. I don't know if that is effecting your area but if you do find one hang onto it.

Welcome to the board.

Hopefully you contribute a lot.

As for ranges being closed, my range is currently drilling, and still taking new members.

What part of Schuylkill County? Depending on your location there are a couple spots in Luzerne and Columbia Counties that aren't too painfully far. From what I've seen here and on PAFOA there appears to be a shortage of places to shoot in the county. I think all the rednecks down there are just heading to the strippings or their backyards from the looks of it.

Would that be Fryburg? I'm looking to join.

Strangely enough, of you know of Fryburg, you know my name. Lol

I actually belong to the sandycreek conservancy. Was just up there today. Technically yesterday from the time.

The Fryburg range is a bit of a drive for me.

The reason I asked was that my buddy just asked me if I wanted to join Fryburg Smile. A neighbor said he would sponsor us and it would be nice to have a range close to camp.

Thanks for the welcomes.

Luckily Marcellus shale has'nt hit us (yet).

Most of the local clubs I looked into before are geared more towards shotgun and claybirds. I do know of a few others, and a buddy of mine and I are going to try to see about joining one this week. I do have a gamelands range within a 15-20 minute ride, and I don't mind the yearly fee, and 3 round limit. But not being a hunter, I never know what season is in , and the range is off limits during the hunting seasons. Plus, no pistol range there and only one 50 yarder.

I happen to be one of those "rednecks" you're referring too Big Grin My backyard is definitely a nono, the town cops and neighbors would really be upset. Stripping areas are fine, but my access is limited with having a car. And the one quite popular stripping area, is always full.

I live close to the southern county line, 10 miles north of Cabelas. I don't have too much issue with a little travel to spend a few hours enjoying myself.

Sorry for the ramble, and thanks again for the welcomes.
