We for moving from Massachusetts to Greencastle we have our Massachusetts carry concealed license. Does anyone know if that County is license friendly?

If you're moving to PA, just wait until you get your PA DL, which I think you have 60 or 90 days to get after you move in, and then go to your local Sheriff's office and get your LTCF. Should cost you $20 for 5 years and if Franklin county is doing everything right, you should be in and out.

Welcome to PA, where the real US begins on this side of the NE. Tongue

Streaker's advice is probably the best course of action for you. It's a lot easier with a PA DL, and then you'll be set for 5 years after $20 and a quick background check. Some counties make you give 3 references; I'm not sure if yours does or not.

I got my DL and LTCF, in Lancaster County all in one day. Your DL will be a TEMPORARY, but the Sheriff's office recognized it anyway. $20, 20 minutes, wham, bam, thank you, Ma'am! And out the door I went! :-)

While some counties issue 'on the spot' (after an "instant check"), the law allows 45 days for the process to be completed. In Franklin county, expect about a two-week turn-around.

Ignore the clerk, who frequently sounds like an idiot. If you have any serious issues with the process here (I'm about 10 miles west of Greencastle), feel free to contact me here privately.

I wanted to thank everyone for the welcome - we will be moving in December.

What a difference in the laws. In Ma. I waited at least 3 months and had to pay a $100.00 fee. Fingerprints and background checks.

In Ma. you cannot buy ammo, or handguns with and "FID". You need an LTC-A to purchase Handguns and handgun ammo.

Our daughter moved to MD 2 years ago. When I went with her husband to Waynsboro to get some shotgun shells I was shocked. The shells were out on the shelf. No-one was around and there were shotguns out on display etc... Then when he went to buy them - he put them on the counter and paid for them and we left??? No LTC Permit - entered into the store computer and License? No locked up see through the glass Ammo?? Shotguns on DISPLAY - I almost passed out... That is when we decided that PA would be a better fit for us than MD.

I had never seen anything like that - it was refreshing - I came back and told my wife and she was in shock too.. AWESOME!!!!
