New York At It Again - 'Safe Weapons Storage Act' Makes It A Crime To Not Secure Guns
#1
New York is at it again, Proposed law A08293 was introduced Dec 6, called the 'Safe Weapons Storage Act' this law, if passed, makes it a crime to leave any weapon unsecured and if convicted in certain cases the owner must relinquish their firearm card and surrender their weapons.

Why anyone but the hardened anti gunner stays in that state is beyond me.

I really want to see the new WTC, but I'm afraid it'll have to be by photo.

I have a friend in upstate getting married next year, but I'm afraid I'll have to decline.

There's no way that I can step in that state again unless someone undoes the damage done there.

I'm not so sure about that, Heller wasn't just about that.

First the DC law stated 'unloaded and disassembled or bound by a trigger lock.' Secondly DC restricted handgun ownership to those registered prior to the 1975 law.

So while similar at first glance, it looks like the NY lawmakers are trying to 'skate around' Heller

For handgun, when I had my permit 1976 to 1999.
The only expectable safe storage was a bank safety
deposit box -- That was New York City.
This way they would have all the sign in's and out's
Very Controlled.

I have to go to Manhattan next week.

I can take my 1911 on board Amtrak but it has to be in its case and as declared baggage only in the conductor compartment and NY would not permit me to get off the train with the gun, as they got a total gun ban in there.

I can however can (and will) carry pepper gel with me instead.

I just looked up what the law there is for NYC residents on OC spray; it's an unbelievable gobbedlygook of crap. If you are outside of NYC it's easy to obtain it but not within NYC and you're not allowed to have it mailed to yourself--so no buying off Amazon. You can however carry it with you into the city, but only a can small enough to fit in your pocket.
