Nice article about the Colt Delta Elite and the 10mm

Quote:Most people are under the illusion that the 10mm Auto round was developed by Jeff Cooper and introduced with the Bren Ten pistol back in 1983. This is, like many things we take for gospel, an urban myth. The reality is that the 10mm was actually a failed scientific experiment to see if they could develop a semi-automatic cartridge that could get Chuck Norris to flinch. They couldn’t, but the 10mm did get him to smile.

And why not? The 10mm is meant for people with ‘Awesome’ for their middle name. People who shoot 10mm live vicariously… through themselves. If a mother bear is separated from her offspring and there’s a 10mm in between them, she writes the cub off as a loss.
All kidding aside (Mr. Norris doesn’t smile), the 10mm is a great cartridge, if somewhat boutique. However, if you’re going to be launching a 200 grain projectile at 1300 fps, you’re going to need to do so from a good, solid platform. Enter the Colt Delta Elite. Reintroduced in March 2009 after a lengthy absence from the market, the new Delta Elite has everything you’d expect from a series 80 1911 platform with a 5” barrel, 8+1 capacity, rowel Commander type hammer, and a forged, brushed stainless steel frame with the new models carrying the more traditional bushing rather than the bushingless barrel setup. The Delta Elite weighs in at 2.4lbs, is 8.25 inches in length, has white dot sights, double recoil spring, a solid aluminum trigger and wrap around rubber grips complete with the Delta medallion.

A Reading from the Book of Armaments, Chapter 4, Verses 16 to 20:

Then did he raise on high the Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch, saying, "Bless this, O Lord, that with it thou mayst blow thine enemies to tiny bits, in thy mercy." And the people did rejoice and did feast upon the lambs and toads and tree-sloths and fruit-bats and orangutans and breakfast cereals ... Now did the Lord say, "First thou pullest the Holy Pin. Then thou must count to three. Three shall be the number of the counting and the number of the counting shall be three. Four shalt thou not count, neither shalt thou count two, excepting that thou then proceedeth to three. Five is right out. Once the number three, being the number of the counting, be reached, then lobbest thou the Holy Hand Grenade in the direction of thine foe, who, being naughty in my sight, shall snuff it."

I'd kill for a 10mm XDm but I'll have to settle (and save up) for a Nighthawk Custom Predator in 10mm

I love my Delta Elite. I have been drooling over a Wilson 10mm since I had a competition model in .45. When I have some disposable income, Wilson will be building me the 10mm of my dreams.
He was the sort of person who stood on mountaintops during thunderstorms in wet copper armour shouting "All the Gods are bastards."

I have a 1988 nickel plated Delta Elite but I would also love to add a stainless Delta to my herd as well as a Glock G20C! Something about that compensated Glock that I just like!
