Nightmare election scenarios worry both parties

Platters of sugar cookies bearing the likenesses of President Barack Obama, ...

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. — Here in a county that knows a thing or two about Election Day meltdowns, both parties are fretting over what might go seriously wrong before, during or just after the Nov. 6 presidential election.

"More than 50 percent of the provisional ballots are thrown in the trash in this state," Florida state Rep. Mark Pafford told about 80 retirees who gathered for last week's meeting of the Golden Lakes Democratic Club.

That's only a slight exaggeration — 48 percent of the provisional ballots cast in Florida in 2008 were rejected. And Pafford's warning underscores anxiety in Florida and other states about legal challenges, ballot problems or bizarre outcomes that could bedevil a race that seems likely to be close — conceivably as close as the 2000 contest that people still quarrel about.

The mere mention of that election unsettles people in Palm Beach County. The county's poorly designed "butterfly ballot" confused thousands of voters, arguably costing Democrat Al Gore the state, and thereby the presidency. It's a good thing it's not close. The latest gallop poll shows Romney up +6, and up +1 since the second debate.

And now, the real unemployment data came out today...it is still over 8%.

Romney landslide...it's looking more and more real every day.

I REALLY hope your right Val. Americans need to wake up to reality and run O out of town and into a jail cell. Preferably a chain gang in the south like in the 30's.

They showed the "results" from the CNN post debate poll. It had Obama leading Romney 46% to 39%.

I went to Gallup's website. Here is what their current election outcome looks like thus far.....

If Romney wants to win, it has to be by a landslide to make up for all the Obama cheating that will be going on.

You know, dead people voting, bribed homeless people voting, lost ballots, refused military ballots, and the list goes on.

It was a CNN poll. Not a Gallup poll. There are pictures floating around on here with the results showing Romney ahead 54% to 46%. But when they showed it yesterday it was Obama ahead 46% to 39%

I'm pretty sure you're referring to a snap poll on who won the debate, while everyone else is talking about a poll on who is leading the Presidential race.

You want to look at the likely voters poll, that's the one that shows Romney with a big lead. Registered voter polls serve only to make Dem's feel better about themselves. Wink

From Gallop:

LIKELY VOTERS CHANGE, OCT 11-17

Romney52%+1
Obama45%-

Looks like +7 to me.
