NJ one-upping NY gun grabbers
#1
Got this off the NJ forum, trying to get a link to it. Scary crap:

Quote:Even though New Jersey already has some of the toughest gun laws in the nation, the majority leadership in Trenton are being pressured by anti-gun legislators and organizations to blame you for the tragedy in Newtown by pushing for a full-scale assault to further restrict your Second Amendment rights and your right of self defense, including:

- Extreme magazine capacity limits (5 rounds - a stealth gun ban that puts law-abiding citizens at the mercy of criminals. A3664 S2497)

- Pyschological exam and in-home inspection as a pre-condition to firearms ownership (unaccountable health care professionals dictating your rights; could result in forfeiture of existing FID cards. A3676)
- Forced disclosure of all household members and mental health issues as a pre-condition to firearms ownership (A3688)

- Bans on common types of ammunition and ammunition sales (A3645; A3646; A3666; S2464; S2465; S2474; S2476)

-.50 caliber ban that would prohibit numerous popular hunting guns (A3659; S2178)

New Jersey legislators recently introduced 23 of the most extreme, anti-gun bills ever seen in the Garden State. There are more coming, and they are planning to move them quickly. Instead of focusing on issues like school security and measures to prevent the adjudicated mentally ill from gaining access to firearms, New Jersey legislators have instead targeted the Second Amendment and self-defense. None of the new proposed measures would prevent another tragedy, and all of them would severely restrict your right to defend yourself.

Thank God I don't live there and I have no intention of ever doing so. I also do not spend vacation time in the Garden State and won't be. Asshats! Feel good legislation that does nothing.

Those stupid politicians in Trenton have never looked at the NJ gun permit application or gone through the process. You have to sign a waiver for a mental health background check whereby they investigate if you've ever had any mental health treatment. This includes EVERYTHING, from sessions with a therapist for marriage counseling to visits to a psychiatrist for depression...anything mental health related from a mental health professional (therapists, psychologists, psychiatrists) you HAVE TO disclose by law. If you're currently taking psychotropic drugs for depression, anxiety or anything else your application will be immediately rejected. You can be a perfectly normal functioning working adult with no criminal background. Sorry, the paranoia of the police and mental health professionals will still result in rejection of your application.

The police send a letter to any of the mental health doctors or professionals you have ever seen in your life. They have to send them back "approving" of your competency to own a gun in your home by answering the questions on the letter about your background, reputation and mental and physical fitness to own a gun. Guess what happens 99.99 percent of the time! These doctors don't send it back or send it back with their "concerns" out of fear that they could be held responsible if their current or former patient ever got in trouble with the law IN THE FUTURE. The liberal "why do you need to own a gun?" mindset of NJ is so rampant all the mental health professionals run scared when they get a letter from the police about a current or former patient applying for a gun permit.

This new law being proposed is just redundancy, codifying what routinely takes place. NJ politicians are so clueless and careless about what goes on in their state. Everyone of them, just to experience the process and see what's wrong with it, should apply for a gun permit. I would surmise many of the legislators would be denied for mental health reasons or something else. Remember now...if the New Jersey state legislator ever went to see a mental health professional for ANY reason at ANY point in their lives they will be denied.

I want to see this officially, not some post on a gun board. This could be speculation or political idiot speak that amounts to nothing more than a wishlist.

Please keep us posted with a real link.

Is your friend mentally ill? It MAY force people into action or it MAY scare the living shit out of the Fudds and Sheeple and end up with support only from people like us. I'm betting on the latter.

God I pray it never comes to a shooting war. Combat is very nasty business, would not wish it on anyone and question the sanity of those that do. But the more things progress, the less I see a possibility of a reasonable resolution. The OTHER side (gun grabbers etc) are playing for keeps, scorched earth it seems.

I dont see good things coming out of this........
