NJ woman dies waiting for gun :-(
#1
This upsets me soooo much. :-(

http://www.foxnews.com/us/2015/06/10/no-...un-permit/

Quote:Carol Bowne knew her best shot at defending herself from a violent ex was a gun, and not a piece of paper. And it was paperwork that left her unprotected when Michael Eitel showed up at her New Jersey home last week and stabbed her to death, say Second Amendment advocates, who charge local police routinely sit on firearms applications they are supposed to rule on within 30 days.

Bowne, 39, had a restraining order against Eitel when he killed her in her driveway last Wednesday, but she was still waiting for Berlin Township Police Chief Leonard Check to approve the gun permit she had applied for on April 21. Tragically, she had gone to the township police department just two days before her death to check on the status of her languishing application. In another indication of her fear of Eitel, Bowne had recently installed surveillance cameras around her home, and the equipment recorded the 45-year-old ex-con attacking her as she arrived home and got out of her car.

The murderer should fry, and the state should be sued for millions.

I don't understand how their justifiable need hadn't been challenged and beaten yet.

I hear that Christy is bothered by this too. Hopefully he started pushing for change.

I have argued many times to my fellow liberals that "2nd Amendment rights are a women's rights and equality issue."

Generally, women are smaller, weaker, and less aggressive than their domestic violence attackers. The only thing that makes them equal is a suitable weapon.

The difference between "shall" issue and "may" issue. Stay out of NJ, your life may depend on it.

Are NJ residents allowed to cross the border and purchase a gun in PA? I guess you have to be a PA resident to buy a gun in PA.

Seems like if your life was in that much danger, it would be worth it to get a gun however you can and worry about consequences later. But maybe that's not possible. Unless she had a friend who would have been willing to go to jail over a straw purchase.

Horrible.

You can't buy a handgun in another state, and transport it yourself. The dealer would have to ship it to a dealer in your state.

IE if there's a pistol that I really liked at the wheeling cabelas, I could buy it, but they'd have to ship it to my FFL..., following the laws of your state on top of that, of course.

No pistol permit needed in NJ to buy a shotgun. Just a FID card. Which you need before you can apply for a handgun permit, so I assume she had one but the article was not clear.

A shotgun wouldn't have done her any good in her driveway after work.

Neither would the pistol. No way she woukd have been given license to carry. She was simply trying to buy the pistol.
