NJ woman dies waiting for gun :-(
#11
OK, I'm not up on NJ gun laws, but this is wrong at every level. She needs a permit, approved by the local police, just to purchase? Otherwise, she could have at least bought the thing. As for a carry permit, permit be damned in dealing with a psycho. I mean, I'm a law abiding citizen, until the law places my, or my loved ones, lives in jeopardy then one must air on the side of self preservation and throw stupidity out the window. Years ago, my father concealed carry without a permit. I asked him about breaking the law, and his response was, "Sometimes a man's gotta do what a man's gotta do." Words to LIVE by.

The problem in NJ is you can't even buy one without the State's approval, so unless you want to go back-alley shopping...

In NJ you need a permit to purchase a pistol. You also have to have a firearms ID card to own a firearm of any kind. Including a BB gun.

Once you get your FID, have your references checked and your background investigation, then you wait a few months for it to arrive then you can apply to buy a pistol with ITS OWN permit.

Hint: The more difficult and draconian it is to purchase a firearm correlates directly to how difficult it is to obtain a license to carry.

This woman would NEVER have been given a concealed carry license. So while I have the utmost sympathy for this woman who was trying to do all she could, the only way a handgun would have kept her alive would have been if she bought one illegally and carried it on her the same way.

NJ would rather a woman get raped and murdered than own a firearm to protect themselves, because they truly are under the delusion that "if reducing the amount of guns saves one life it's worth it."

Jersey gun laws are really simple to understand: You can't own a gun unless you meet certain criteria.

PA gun laws are simple to understand: You can have a gun unless certain criteria are met.

I came from MD, where gun laws are majorly stupid, but NJ is much worse than I thought. Again, law was never meant to make good people criminals. Still, yes I would have broken the law and lived. As I said before, my Father made that choice years ago. Too much a chip off the old block. Thank God we got out of MD when we did, otherwise I most likely would be "breaking the law".
