No Guns At Bloomsburg Fair
#1
Quote: Officials in central Pennsylvania say guns will be banned at this year's Bloomsburg Fair.

Bill Barratt, Bloomsburg's superintendent of police and parking, says the ban is intended to assure the safety of people attending the Sept. 21-28 event.

It isn't clear from the web-site if the event is sponsored by a government entity. It looks like it's private. Indeed, it looks like the facility is also private, at least judging from the "Rent our Facility" contact names, etc.

If that is indeed the case, there's no basis for an objection on the basis of preemption.

Not a headline I wanted to see this morning. Looks like my family will not be attending the fair this year.

Seeing this show up in more media sources as the day goes on. What we as gun owners need to do is unite in a boycott against the Bloomsburg gun shows.

I totally agree with you! They will not get my Money. The big question is, will the People who held Gun shows on the fairground in the past, return or Boycott??

As much as I would love to see them seek out another venue, my gut tells me they will continue to return and people will continue to patronize them.

It doesn't make a lot of sense to punish our friends to get at our enemies.

Fine, respectfully request that the gun shows find another venue.

OTOH, maybe there IS no other venue in the region where they can make the numbers work.

Would you rather that the event just doesn't happen?

Not everything requires "the nuclear option."

I won't be attending this year. Actually I didn't have that great of an experience last year so I was on the fence but this just made my decision for me. I think i'll be sending an email in the morning as well to tell them why my decision was so easy.

Yes. To the extreme that I would cease support for any vendor who put up a table at Bloomsburg while this policy is in effect. These same vendors travel to all the other major shows in the area, no reason the Bloomsburg show couldn't be held in a different location.
