NRA: 100,000 new members after Sandy Hook shooting...

Discouraging at best.....You would think Millions. If we could get that every 18 days that would be good.

The National Rifle Association has gained more than 100,000 new members in the last 18 days, the organization told POLITICO’s Playbook on Thursday.

The number of paid new members jumped from 4.1 million to 4.2 million in that time frame.

“Our goal is to get to 5 million before this debate is over,” the NRA told POLITICO’s Mike Allen.

I agree, that's a discouraging number IMO.

100, 000 is a boat load considering there is money involved. Image how many people wrote to congress via email since thats free.

That's on top of how many who were already members and involved?
The ones who never gave up even though we didn't agree with actions the NRA took?

How many paid members in the NRA compared to voters?

How many paid members compared to gun owners?

How many paid NRA gun owners compared to servicemen in the military?

However, there are people who don't join the NRA because of how they do business (read compromise and give too much too easily). These people join any number of other pro 2A organizations.

This is a critical time folks. Our movement is about to grow some serious legs, or die in its tracks. It's our job to make sure it needs pants.

New members is only 1 measure. How much $$ have they brought in due to current membership donations? That may be a more telling number.

Some people believe their gun/ammo purchases alone are enough because buried deep in the price is the "NRA Tax" (for firearms and ammo manufacturers that turn over bulk donations to NRA).

While that's all-well and good, and in some respects true; the NRA really needs to generate new membership cards because without that number increasing in a significant way it sends a clear signal that taking away our guns is now "politically safe".

No way, Jose. Anyone willing to join on to gun legislation bills better be fucking reading the legislation AND also ensure that's precisely what their constituents want because WE DONT FORGET AND WE DO HOLD GRUDGES A VERY LONG TIME---LONG ENOUGH TO ENSURE YOUR OUSTER'S SUCCESS.
