NRA: Get 'homicidal maniacs' off streets
#11
I'm not to sure how to go about discussing this without getting flamed, well fuck it anyway.

I guess since I don't support the NRA or vote republican or pledge allegiance to a flag or attend sunday mass on the regular that somehow I'm not patriotic or support individual rights. How the NRA handled sandy hoax? Yea, they blamed video games and supported background checks in order find a compromise. I don't claim to know everything about them and that has a lot to do with my decision to keep my money for now. I had a discussion with a FOAC leader years ago about this very thing. What would the NRA do if there weren't any threat to gun ownership and the 2nd amendment? How much money do they make? How much did they profit from the latest bullshit propaganda news piece? And they will continue to profit from fear. Makes you wonder what kind of ulterior motives they have in my opinion. Just looking at their track record in regards to the UFA, NFA and the GCA will explain a lot. Now they support more legislation that would further infringe on our rights not only or gun rights but our privacy rights as well in yet another effort to pander to politicians. I'm not buying their bullshit but you guys go right ahead. Hell, it's a free country...maybe...

I'm not going to flame you nor am I going neg rep you. I'm just going to give you a little of what I have observed in my nearly half century.

There was a time when carrying a handgun was a rare privilege in some states and in many counties in PA. Some states, it wasn't an option. You had to show cause and list the firearm you intended to carry. Then, you were at the mercy of the issuing authority. In some places only those politically connected could even hope to get a permit. Now we have concealed carry across the country.

I have watched the battles and seen the NRA play the political game. No, we didn't always get everything we wanted and sometimes we had to give to get. Sometimes it was a battle just to hang on like the AWB with a sunset.

The NRA knows how to play the game. There is a reason they are despised by the antis, they're effective. There is a reason that lawmakers are afraid of gun control. They know that the NRA has the ability to end their political career. Sure, you can find reasons to not like them but the bottom line is that there is no more effective organization fighting for the 2A.
He was the sort of person who stood on mountaintops during thunderstorms in wet copper armour shouting "All the Gods are bastards."

I understand your position and respect that UJ. Honestly I don't know what the best option is at this point, all I know is that I refuse to compromise. That's all I really have to say about that I guess because I know this could go round and round without getting anywhere. That's my choice for now, nothing says I can't change my mind though.
