Maryland: House Committee Hearing this Friday on Companion to Senate Bill 281
This Friday, March 1, the Maryland House Judiciary Committee will be hearing multiple pieces of anti-gun legislation. Among the legislation being heard is House Bill 294, the companion bill to Senate Bill 281, sweeping anti-gun legislation previously reported by NRA-ILA here. Please note that the hearing time this Friday has been changed from 1:00 pm to noon. This hearing will be held in the Legislative Services Building.

New Mexico: House Bill 77 Referred To Senate Public Affairs And Senate Judiciary Committees
Although House Bill 77, sponsored by Rep. Miguel Garcia (D-ABQ), has undergone significant revisions since its introduction, NRA-ILA still opposes the portion of the House-approved version which would criminalize private transfers at gun shows.

Yesterday, Senate Bill 150 passed in the Kentucky Senate by an overwhelming bipartisan 36-1 vote.

Arkansas: Faculty Campus Carry Passes Senate, Goes to Governor for His Approval
Yesterday, the Arkansas Senate passed House Bill 1243 on a 31-4 bipartisan vote. The House approved this measure on a 70-11 vote on February 15. This bill will be sent to Governor Mike Beebe (D), who has indicated he will sign it into law.

Gun crime prosecutions on decline, amid call for more laws
Recent studies show the Obama administration has not enforced many gun laws already on books -- with gun crime prosecutions hitting a decade low in 2011, down 40 percent from their peak under President George W. Bush in 2004, according to federal data crunched by Syracuse University. The SU study prompted 23 House Republicans on Friday to call on President Obama and Attorney General Eric Holder to prosecute more people for gun-related crimes.
