Gun poll: 7 in 10 feel safer in an armed neighborhood
An overwhelming seven in 10 Americans say they would feel safer living in a neighborhood where individuals could own a gun for self defense, the latest indication that support for comprehensive gun control is fading. Rasmussen Reports found that 68 percent of voters polled would feel safer in an armed neighborhood. Just 23 percent said they'd feel safer in “a neighborhood where nobody was allowed to own a gun.”

Florida: URGENT! HELP NEEDED -- SB-448 -- Threat of Force to Stop Attackers
Senate Bill 448 by Senator Greg Evers is on the agenda for the Senate Criminal Justice Committee Meeting on Wednesday, January 8, at 9:00am. We need you to contact members of this Committee IMMEDIATELY. SB-448 by Senator Greg Evers is a bill to stop abusive prosecutors from using 10-20-LIFE to prosecute people who, in self-defense, threaten to use deadly force against an attacker as a means to stop an attack. Some anti-gun, anti-self-defense prosecutors have been abusing the 10-20-LIFE law to prosecute average citizens who displayed a weapon or gun in self-defense to make an attacker back off. Average citizens who never would have been in the system if they had not been attacked and in fear for their own safety, are being persecuted and prosecuted for defending themselves. Because citizens took responsibility for their own safety, some prosecutors treat them like criminals.

Book Review: ‘Gun Control in the Third Reich’
“Gun control caused the Holocaust.” That’s an argument, rather unhelpfully phrased, that American gun-rights supporters have been making for decades. There’s no way to prove it. In fact, most of the time it’s not even clear what alternate history is being suggested. Are we talking about a world in which the Nazis behaved exactly the way they did, but inexplicably allowed their victims to remain armed? A world in which, as the Nazis came to power, Germany already had a widespread and passionate gun culture like America’s?Unfortunately, this bold assertion obscures very serious questions about the role disarmament can play in oppression. And at last we have the historical information we need to investigate those questions, in the form of Second Amendment lawyer Stephen P. Halbrook’s “Gun Control in the Third Reich.” It is the most extensive history to date of Nazi Germany’s policies on firearms, drawing largely on original documents.

SAFE Act decision highlights embarrassing mistakes by gun controllers in a hurry
A year ago New York legislators approved gun controls championed by Gov. Andrew Cuomo so quickly that they did not have time to read the bill, let alone debate it. Cuomo nevertheless insisted that the Secure Ammunition and Firearms Enforcement (SAFE) Act "was not hastily put together." The embarrassing mistakes and omissions that prompted multiple amendments during the year that followed Cuomo's victory suggested otherwise. So does this week's decision by U.S. District Judge William Skretny, who overturned several provisions of the SAFE Act that reflect the unseemly haste with which the law was enacted.
