Nutter to beg City pension systems to pull investments in any firearms "trafficking"

Quote:A day before President Obama kicks the gun debate into high gear by unveiling his legislative plans, Mayor Nutter said he wanted to use the city's financial weight to pressure the makers and sellers of firearms.
The idea has been spreading since Cerberus Capital Management announced last month that it would sell the Freedom Group - maker of the Bushmaster rifle used in the Sandy Hook school massacre - shortly after hearing concerns from a powerful client, the California teachers' pension fund.
On Monday, Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel said he would ask all of his city's pension funds to investigate whether they have holdings in assault-weapons makers and sellers, a step toward dumping those companies' stocks.

Nutter's idea, announced Tuesday, comes with a twist. He's not seeking to simply cut financial ties. Instead, he has drawn up a set of 20 principles - the "Sandy Hook Principles" - that he wants companies to adopt as a condition of investment.

The City's pension system doesn't invest in any stocks of firearms manufacturers, but about $9MM supposedly is with various retailers of guns.

This isn't exactly going to generate bold headlines except for some blurbs of HuffPo.

And it's not like Nutter is gonna come out "we're going to stop buying Glock shit!" and leave PPD without any new guns.

Wouldn't it be hilarious if some of the gun manufacturers came out and said, "Since you feel you can't trust us enough to invest in our companies, we will no longer be selling your PD(s) firearms, or firearms at a discount price." I would be rolling on the floor telling these ass hats, you've made your beds, now sleep in them.

I wish they would.

But they never will.

If he is so worried about the kids, he should fix DHS.

How about we beg the City pension systems not to give pensions to those who betray their Oath and seek to violate the rights of Citizens?

Seems we'd save a WHOLE LOT of money, especially in Philadelphia Wink

They could save even more if they would stop spending so much time coming up with and discussing ordinances that are illegal to enact.

Just another reason not to spend money within Philadelphia city limits.
A gun rack in a pick-up is not for holding guns. Its a place for women to hold on to. Smile
