NV no longer recognizes AZ permit
#1
Due to who this paper is I will not quote ANY of it.

Las Vegas Review

Since AZ "eliminated the live fire portion of their training requirement" NV will no longer honor AZ permit.

The wife and I have been discussing a road trip out west and I was counting on being able to carry in NV. That sucks.

I have, but they haven't. That paper has a history of suing, knowing that most forums and blogs don't have the resources to fight it. I was just making a statement to the mods so that they realize he has a valid point for just posting a link.

Noted, and researched.

Interesting.

Which is why I suggested a disclaimer not to long ago that would say " This website's owner(s) cannot be held responsible for what users post."

It does not take a hell of a lot to cover that.

It's already there, sort of, nonetheless sometimes erring on the side of caution is a necessary act.

Press Release

Quote:PRESS RELEASE
March 1, 2013
On February 28, 2013 the Nevada Sheriffs’ and Chiefs’ association voted
unanimously to end the recognition of
Arizona concealed weapon permits.
Effective the date of this release the
State of Nevada will no longer recognize
Arizona concealed weapon permits.

This action was taken in accordance w
ith Nevada Revised Statue 202.3689. The
Nevada Department of Public Safety is
charged with the responsibility to audit
other states’ concealed weapon laws and
training regulations. In accordance with
Nevada law other states mu
st have an electronic database of permit holders,
which is accessible 24 hours a day by
law enforcement, and their training
standards must be substantially similar t
o, or more stringent than the State of
Nevada.

In early February the NvSCA was notifie
d by Las Vegas area firearms instructors
that Arizona had substantially altered th
eir training requirements to standards
below that required by Nevada.

The Nevada Department of Public Safety
contacted the Arizona Department of
Public Safety to conduct an audit. Arizona DPS confirmed significant changes
were made by their legislative body in 2010 and 2011. Some of the more
significant changes removed statutory
minimum training requirements and
removed statutory marksmanship and judgmental shooting requirements. These
changes created a substantially dissimilar
training requirement in comparison to
Nevada.

At the February 28th
meeting of the NvSCA DPS officials presented their audit
findings, and subsequently the NvSCA voted to end the recognition of Arizona
concealed weapon permits.

When they dumped reciprocity with Utah due to lack of live fire, the writing was on the wall. I got the Arizona ap a while ago to have Nevada reciprocity, but realized it was only a matter of time till they dropped them too, so I have waited and just hung on to it. Oh well. It sucks, if you want Nevada, you pretty much have to take a day out there for the course.
