Obama is going to win
Apparently, people don't like other people that put aside their personal values to win an election or get a job.

I can see their point.

People have great, great respect for people of conviction, even when they don't agree with the cause. Conviction is a very admirable quality.

I can't see your post. I know it's there, I just can't see it.

Yet Obama won the election anyway. I can see what you're saying, but being on different platforms requires different approaches.

Intellectual honesty. Feels good doesn't it.

Honestly, i think his lack of conviction (ie: Flip flopping) is probably a much bigger factor. He really did flip flop all the hell over the place on numerous key issues.

Who the fuck are you and what have you done to valorius You aren't a mad scientist with a clown suit that took over his account are you?

I may not reveal my true thoughts on a forum, but i always look at both sides of things.

Half the posts i post on these threads, i am playing devils advocate. I get bored when everyone just agrees with everything.

I, for one, disagree wholeheartedly.

It's one of the reasons I enjoy reading your posts. I'll respond to one and then say to myself, "wait a minute ... Dodgy ... that doesn't sound like him".

maybe, but to the people who are presumably here legally and voting, it does matter a great deal to them. republicans cannot overlook this stuff or they'll just simply never win the presidency again, especially with their disappearing Latino vote and the Latino population increasing rapidly.

It's acting like a baby to discuss why people voted for Obama over Romney?

I say it's because of the entitlements and that the D's promise more and more while vilifying the R's for wanting to push poor people to the curb.

I call it conversation, the name calling and childishness seems to be one sided IMO.

I'm acting like a baby? dude, you come in here and call libertarians and people who voted for a 3rd party some pretty hostile names.

He's clearly trolling the Republican and otherwise reasonable members of the forum. But, that's OK. His name has a special color.

no, I'm honestly trying to get people to understand that trying to blame others for a problem isn't going to solve the problem. the republican party lost because of the republican party. you can blame the 3rd party or libertarian or Ron Paul supports or Obama or the MSM, but at the end of the day, it's the republican party that couldn't get the job done.

39Flathead;39729 Wrote:As to your point number 3:

Today Limbaugh addressed this false argument.

In 1984 R. Reagan (Republican) got 37% of the Latino vote.

In 1986 he gave amnesty to 3 million illegals.

In 1988 G. HW Bush (Republican) got 30% of the Latino vote.

In two years after granting amnesty to 3 million people, the Republican candidate lost 7% of the Latino vote.

In 2004 the R got 44%, in 2008 31%, in 2012 27%.

It's not immigration, it's free stuff.

(1) What was the source of Limbaugh's statistics? Did he cite anything, or did he just make it up?

(2) What is the basis behind Limbaugh's assertion that the shift of Hispanic votes from Reagan in 1984 to Bush in 1988 was caused by desire for "free stuff"?

(3) Since I have access to an internet search engine, I found a source that appears to compile survey results (the Roper Center at the University of Connecticut.) According to the Roper Center, the GOP candidate for President in 1984 won 66% of the white vote. The same source indicates GOP candidate for President in 1988 won 60% of the white vote. What factors do you (or Limbaugh, if you insist on letting him speak for you,) believe caused this? (My source can be found here for 1984, and here for 1988.) Were these factors similar to, or different from, the factors (desire for "free stuff") that you claim caused the shift in the Hispanic vote (4% according to the Roper Center, 7% according to you/Limbaugh.)

(4) Can you (or Limbaugh; please feel free to copy and paste his arguments again if you can't come up with your own,) explain how the GOP should attempt to win more of the Hispanic vote without addressing the immigration issue?

(5) Do you find that you enjoy listening to Limbaugh because he confirms your own deeply-held beliefs, and doesn't say anything that threatens those beliefs?

(6) Can we draw any conclusions about the character of a person who seeks to listen to entertainers that will reinforce his ideology rather than people who will challenge it? Would you characterize that person as being "brave"? Or "cowardly"?

(7) If a leftist told you that she LOVED listening to Rachel Maddow, and cited some statistics Maddow mentioned in a broadcast, would you find this a convincing statement? Why/why not?
