Obama signs executive order to allow shut down of all US communications

RT has reported that in a secretly unannounced move, President Barack Obama signed an executive order giving the Department of Homeland Security the ability to shut down all of the United States' communications systems upon his request. Barack Obama laid out a statement he titled "Assignment of National Security Emergency Preparedness Communications Function". No doubt a very confusing title. The reasoning behind his issuing of this executive order, is that he feels the government may one day need to access all of our telephones, computers, cable communications, etc., in the name of national security.
We should not forget that the spark which ignited the American Revolution was caused by the British attempt to confiscate the firearms of the colonists. - Patrick Henry

Remember that O quote.

Enemies: American citizens

The obvious intent here?

I honestly don't understand what sort of disney world some of you are living in to think this is something new or that given the right circumstances the .gov will not march in with all their might. NYC gets nuked? Yeah, they are taking over and declaring martial law. Period. Hell, George Washington did the same during the Whiskey Rebellion right here in PA.

And NO, its does not mean they are fluffing up your pillows at your local FEMA camp.

The chaos that would ensue from shutting down "all communications" (which can only mean one thing) would be as bad or worse than any attack, causing widespread panic, rioting, and accidents. Hmm, lets have all the planes in the sky suddenly stop talking to control towers and eachother. Do I trust my government to implement such a plan intelligently and efficiently?

Haha... no.

I don't think anybody expects them to act in such a fashion. The friggin' inmates are running the asylum. . . . Wink

I enjoy every minute of it.

That would be pretty much impossible to accomplish. The only way to stop radio communications is to jam them, and I can't think of a way to jam every radio signal from aircraft that are 40,000 feet in the air, short of an EMP.

This sounds like a tool to control the masses. the Gov's biggest enemy in today's day and age is the proliferation and spread of information across the Internet. I'm not a facebook / twitter user, but we can't deny the fact that it has been leveraged to organize civil unrest to some extent in multiple places in the world. The Government can't control that. They can maybe try to manipulate it, but they can't fully control it.

The only way to grasp complete and utter control is to remove our ability to communicate and gain control over the channels we are allowed access to information. I'm not saying this is going to happen tomorrow, but all it takes is a major incident of "national security" and they could execute. From there mass panic from misinformation, confusion will likely ensue.

You wouldn't be able to run as many people over with that car if it didn't drive as far. It should only have a 10 gallon fuel tank.
