Obtain PA Nonresident CCW in Butler County???
#1
I've discussed some of my particulars in another thread several months ago. In short, I am moving to PA in 3 months. While in PA I will be maintained my Utah residency for the 2 years I will be there. This is completely compliant with the law. My Utah resident permit is honored in PA, but I want to obtain the PA nonresident CCW. I'm currently in Virginia due to a family member having a serious medical problem, but will be leaving for Chicago later this week. I plan on taking I-70 West from Maryland to I-76 West into Ohio. I'm thinking, why not stop and pick up a PA nonresident CCW on the way. I'm considering breaking up the trip into 2 days instead of punching it out in 1 day (which I did on the trip from Chicago to Norfolk). The midway point is Cranberry Township in Butler County, outside of Pittsburgh. Is this a good idea, or should I wait 3 months and hit up Sheriff Nau in Centre County in 3 months when I head out to Philadelphia? In 3 months the wide will be with me doing the same. Right now she doesn't even have her Utah CCW.

That ain't my area so I can't give you any specific info, but I would suggest you contact the specific sheriff's office(s) to see if they will process Non-Resident applications and what their specific procedures are. A nominally uniform system is woefully variable.

Thanks for the info. I'll give them a call, likely tomorrow. I need some group therapy after reading CA7's ruling in Friedman v Highland Park.

You need to have a carry permit from your state of residence to be eligible for a non resident ltcf.

I was only clarifying for the record. He said he was leaving Va for Chicago, but his residency is Utah. Shrug
Just making it clear.

Non-resident Licenses are "shall issue", just as resident LTCFs are. Of course, to press the issue in any county were "they don't do that" will cost you a few thousand dollars.

All of which is true. For reasons dealing with security, and the open nature of forums, I'm not going to disclose how. Over 100 of my brothers and sisters have already been targeted by ISIS online. Wink

Are you eluding to Butler County being one of those counties?

Stop into the Lancaster County Sheriff's office, on your way to Philly.
