A Chicago-area woman arrested in May for drunk driving is now suing county police for what she says was an illegal, humiliating strip search by four officers that was all caught on video.
Dana Holmes was nearly three times over the legal blood alcohol limit when she was pulled over and taken to county jail, where surveillance footage shows her being pulled to the ground by a female officer and three male officers.
The 33-year-old was stripped completely of her clothes and left naked in a cell alone, where she cried on the floor for several minutes before police tossed her a ‘padded suit.’

Under Illinois law, a suspect may only be stripped by an officer of their same sex and never in the presence of anyone not participating in the search.

AUSTIN -- An Austin police officer has been fired for shooting at a driver during a traffic stop.
On Friday, Chief Art Acevedo said the shooting was unreasonable, especially the way the officer acted after he fired his gun, but the civil rights attorney handling the case says his termination is not enough.

Quote:...Harrington is representing Barton in a civil suit and says the chief's action is not enough.

"It shouldn't take more than four months to fire this guy," Harrington said. "It really is scary, and I think it ought to be alarming to the people of the city."

CENTREVILLE • Corey Allen, the former assistant police chief of Centreville, was sentenced Friday to two years in federal prison for lying to investigators in what turned out to be a sting about his sale of a gun to a felon.

On May 3, 2012, Allen, 31, sold a .45-caliber pistol and two ammunition magazines for $100 to a past sex offender, officials said. The buyer, working with authorities, recorded an encounter with Allen on Oct. 11, and Allen later lied to investigators about their dealings.

Oh what's a little sexual assualt. He's a cop he has the authority.

She then deposited them into her personal bank account, the chief added.

All of the above was reported within just the past few days in the news and isn't an exhaustive list. THE PAST FEW DAYS!!

Police officers have a serious problem and it seems to be getting worse.

http://www.policemisconduct.net/

Over 20 months an average of 415 officers a month have a credible significant misconduct report.

Over 20 months an average of 162 officers a month get charged with a crime!!

WE HAVE A BIG PROBLEM AND IT WILL NOT GO AWAY UNLESS GOOD POLICE OFFICERS STEP UP AND WE DEMAND JUSTICE.

Quote:According to data compiled by the CATO Institute, from April 2009 to December 2010 there were “8,300 credible reports involving allegations of police misconduct” but only 3,238 resulted in criminal charges. The conviction rate for law enforcement officers who were charged is just 37 percent, compared to a 70 percent conviction rate among members of the general public charged criminally. The CATO report notes that “prosecuting police misconduct in the US is very problematic with conviction rates, incarceration rates, and the amount of time law enforcement officers spend behind bars for criminal misconduct are all far lower than what happens when ordinary citizens face criminal charges.”

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN WE ALLOW SCUMBAGS TO BE COPS.

Quote:Seven years ago John Collins was charged with aggravated battery of a police officer, a felony in Illinois. He was sent to a Cook County jail and bond was set at $75,000, which he could not pay. The jail was overcrowded, so Collins slept on the floor. He remained there for 385 days, during which time he missed the birth of his first child, a baby boy. His fiancé brought his infant son to visit but he was not allowed to hold him, separated by a pane of glass. Sometimes, those visits were canceled “when the jail was put on lock-down for stabbings and murders.” Eventually, his fiancé left him, saying his time in the jail had changed him — he wasn’t the same person anymore.

JURY SAVES THIS MANS LIFE BUT THEY WERE'NT INITIALLY ON HIS SIDE!

Quote:His seven-year odyssey may have finally ended this week, when a jury unanimously found the two officers involved guilty of malicious prosecution for fabricating the case against him.
Court documents and interviews reveal a remarkable story of a barber who blew the whistle on two veteran police officers and was vindicated. But the details of Collins’ case also underscore just how difficult it is for an ordinary citizen to prove misconduct by the police. Innocence, of course, is helpful. But luck is essential….

WHY IT IS IMPORTANT THAT WE UNDERSTAND THAT OFFICERS ARE NOW COMMITTING FELONIES ARE FAR HIGHER RATES THAN THE NORMAL CLASS OF CITIZEN THAT WOULD PASS A BACKGROUND CHECK!
Quote:Several members of the jury, speaking with Collins’ lawyers after the trial, admitted that — despite the weight of the evidence favoring Collins — they still struggled mightily with the idea that police officers might not tell the truth.

I'm curious...could it be the Union keeping the dipshits on the force even though fellow officers would rather see a certain few ousted?

The point is that I'm sick and tired of the constant string of excuses for cops that do shit like this. Obviously people aren't aware just how wide spread the problem is. Almost 1 out of every 200 cops will be CONVICTED .5% every year of a crime. That is absolutely ridiculous.

1 out of 200 are bad and we want to blame it on the union?

What is the point of all this? If I posted 100 stories about non LEO doing bad things would we conclude all people are bad?
