Ohio Bill Changes Reciprocity, CCW Training & More
#1
A new bill introduced June 11 in the Ohio house amends 13 existing gun laws included automatic reciprocity with any state that honors an Ohio CCW.

The bill appears to be 100% positive and could effect gun owners from many states.

If it passes that means we will be able to carry in Ohio with a PA LTCF.

Quote:18 Pa.C.S. § 6106: Firearms not to be carried without a license

(a) Offense defined.--
(1) Except as provided in paragraph (2), any person who carries a firearm in any vehicle or any person who carries a firearm concealed on or about his person, except in his place of abode or fixed place of business, without a valid and lawfully issued license under this chapter commits a felony of the third degree.

(b) Exceptions.--The provisions of subsection (a) shall not apply to:

...

(11) Any person while carrying a firearm in any vehicle, which person possesses a valid and lawfully issued license for that firearm which has been issued under the laws of the United States or any other state.

Implying that you're usually not legal while you are there? Wink

I went through the training in Oh, and got my application, but the Oh application wants you to list everywhere you've ever lived and the dates you lived there. I've moved 20+ times in my life and I can't remember all that crap so I never filled it out. Then I moved to Pa and it was so easy to get a LTCF. Indiana was a little more of a pain but that's only because I applied shortly after Sandy Hook happened so it took longer. Plus Indiana requires finger prints.

So, to answer your question: Maybe Big Grin

Does it require training?

Did it require training before?

The question I have is that for us to carry into Ohio, we have to recognize the license issued by Ohio. WELL... we KNOW what our fantastic Attorney General does... she put the kabosh on the FL license... so what makes you think that she will add Ohio to the list of states that PA recognizes ???

Just thinking that until we recognize them, they wont recognize us.... so we still might be screwed with that....

Training was required before I don't know about now. That's the reason OH was such a pain. They wouldn't recognize any state that didn't have training.

PA recognizes ALL permits and licenses issued by any state, as cited in post #2.

The only possible hiccup I can think of is the fact that, for states that we don't have reciprocity with, we only recognize their permits for the purpose of carrying in a vehicle, but not for concealing.
