Quote:Colorado High School Has Students Recite Pledge Of Allegiance In Arabic…

A Colorado high school principal is defending his decision to allow students from a cultural club to recite the Pledge of Allegiance in Arabic.

Tom Lopez, the principal at Rocky Mountain High School in Fort Collins, said he has received a number of telephone calls and emails from outraged parents – but he stands by his decision.

“We have a tremendous amount of diversity in our school,” he told 9News.com. “This is very American, not un-American.”

It's the "BILL OF RIGHTS" not the bill of "needs"

Waiiiiiiiiiit wait wait wait wait wait.

So...um...if a class says "God"....and one parent gets "outraged"....the school apologizes and retracts to avoid a lawsuit.

But if a class says "Allah".....and many parents get outraged....the school stands by it because its "American".

What the heck.

I better stop there so I don't earn more negatives for being "bigoted" against Muslims..... *rolling eyes*

I will say this....schools....if you want to separate from religion....that means ALLLLLL religions. Not just the ones you don't like.

I think it's all a silly thing anyway, some late 19th century invention. Just some silly words no one understands from some silly man. Another thing that can be perverted by whoever wants to use it maliciously.

I show my loyalty with my actions anyway. Just dump the pledge and get the teachers to teach actual history.

So, was the Constitution just silly words from silly men that no one understands? Just another thing that can be perverted by whoever wants to use it maliciously?

Looking through your rep history at the posts you were negged for, your bigotry is pretty apparent.

That said, do you have evidence that other students in this school, or any other school are prevented from saying " god" when reciting the pledge?

Call me crazy, I've never liked the idea personally of pledging allegiance to ANY flag. I believe it is a dangerous mindset to blindly follow under a single banner that could easily represent evil administrations like the current one we have.

I agree, the Founders left out oaths of allegiance for the People for many of the same reasons that they codified the bill of rights.

When one studies the history of the pledge, one will be less eager to recite it..., IMO.

That said, people still say it and I give no fucks about what language it is recited in.

I'll die defending the constitution and the bill of rights. I still stand by this statement "The pledge is stupid".

And the constitution has been perverted in meaning by people in power, even some of the original framers were worried that by putting rights in that left those rights vulnerable to being controlled by the people in power, but I will still stand by the original intent (that is easy to understand if you study all of the framers writings).

That's your interpretation. The flag in my opinion represents the people, the US Constitution, the soliders who fought/died for this country and generally all the good things about this country. I say it's borderline offensive to state the modern, US flag is a symbol of our screwed up government. The flag will always be a symbol of the good things and it's a beautiful thing to pledge allegiance to such a symbol.

Don't take my words as a form of disrespect, I just look at it a bit differently. Sure, I pledge allegiance to fighting for the principals this country was founded upon, much like the oath people take when entering office or service. The flag looked a bit different in those days and we should also not soon forget states rights.
