This is crazy. Given the info so far, I feel for the dad and hope he gets a light sentence, if charged. The daughter told a BIG lie and the boy's blood is on her hands, IMO....

Quote:A Houston-area father fatally shot a 17-year-old boy who was inside his teen daughter's bedroom early Thursday morning, MyFoxHouston.com reported.
The father, who was not identified, was notified by one of his children that there was someone in his 16-year-old daughter's room, the report said. He reportedly found his daughter in bed with the teen.
The confrontation occurred around 2:20 a.m. The father had a gun and asked the teen to identify himself, police said, according to the report. His daughter reportedly told her father that she did not know the teen and that the two were not in bed.
The father said he told the teen not to move, but reportedly saw the teen reach for something, at which point police say the father opened fire. The teen did not have a gun. His daughter later confessed that she did indeed know the teen, the report said.

Daughter and teen are dumbasses, both got what they deserved. Dad might not have made the best call but I believe he was within his rights.

Bacon is right both teens are idiots. The father could have been so worked up after the shooting maybe that had to with him needing treatment for something. The father shouldnt be charged if the teen wouldnt ID himself and the girl lied. The girl should be in a heap of trouble for causing this.

This happened in TX, so I doubt the dad will get charged. Remember, Joe Horn shot a guy in the back who he caught robbing his neighbor's house, and he was acquitted of all charges. While TX might have more restrictive carry laws, their SYG/Castle Doctrine laws are second to none.
Although the story ended tragically, I would call this a good shoot by TX standards. And, it may serve as a lesson to teenage girls, and cheating wives/girlfriends, about brining a man into the home while where the man of the house is armed.

Wait. Dad saw them in bed, but daughter says they weren't in bed?
Huh?
Of course the writing is so pathetically awful, you hardly know how to unravel it.
Reportedly.

I'm not saying what the Dad did was "right", but I think a lot of us here would say it is understandable.

Folks... I have a hunch that Dad may end up in jail, even in Texas. We should follow this.

It sounds like the article is saying that the dad saw the couple in bed, but then the daughter said they were NOT in bed. It sounds like the article is just repeating quotes from both sides.
Teens are really good at trying to convince mom and dad that they did NOT just see what they are sure they just saw. I'm thinking that is what happened here.
I hope the girl actually feels remorseful that her lie got somebody killed. I'm pretty sure the dad would not have shot the guy if the daughter had actually stuck up for him saying she loved him or whatever, and told Daddy the truth.
For what his perception was at the time, it was a good shoot. To him, daughter claimed she didn't know the guy...so right there, that makes the guy an intruder that is possibly armed and ready to harm his daughter.
If anything, really, the daughter should be tried for manslaughter or something. Or whatever the lowest "death" crime is...?

I hope the dad goes through their world famous execution express lane. He's a murdering monster.
